This one is for Helen; mule shit or not! and Pickles.

Howdy:

Just went half way around the world and got home. Good sign as far as I am concerned. Particularly when you consider where I was.

Rest; not really. The late blueberries are now ready. Had to pick gallons of them and throw them into the freezer. I came home to two does grazing in the front yard. Nice greeting.

Now to pickles. When I was young, my aunt made the greatest pickles. She died when I was 7, so I only remember what she told me. I tried them. They should set for more than 1 and a half months. We tried a jar today. The taste is what I remember.

5 in cukes, stuffed with horseradish and covered with hot vinegar and water seeped in hot peppers, garlic and other stuff. No hot water bath or pressure cooker. If I don't die before the morning, I will have another one. *<)))

Best Wishes,,,,

Sounds heavenly. Do you just throw in whatever seems to be the right amount of the various herbs and spices? I hope you survive. :)

I hate to bring mule poop into everything, but I planted half of my tomatoes in mostly composted mule poop and the other half in regular dirt with fertilizer. Mule pooped plants are five feet tall and lush, bearing about average. The other plants are much shorter, spindlier, and producing much more heavily. All of the tomatoes taste ok.

Ah, Latte -- I see you are still nursing an interest in assholes. Still picking guys up around the gay hangouts in DC? Or are you traveling farther afield in your search for men who will join you in your preferred sexual activities?

are cukes acidic enough to be canned in a water bath? I don't think I want em around for weeks on end if they haven't been pickled.
