The worldwide market for personal computer's shrank in the second quarter, a first for the industry. Sales were down two per cent from the same period last year, while shipments fell five per cent in Canada. This is the first time in the personal computer industry's 20-year history that year-over-year quarterly sales have dropped. In the past, growth rates have been in the double digits. Industry analysts are predicting the trend could continue as the global economy continues to soften.
