A Small Oxy Update

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

I don't know much except that Oxy has returned by a private ambulance-jet to Cleveland where she is living with her elderly mom. She is not online. She does not want to give out her phone number because she does not want her mom bothered by phone calls.

Oxy remains in serious condition from her traffic injury 10 months ago. She has a hospital bed at home. Her son has married and is still in Tampa. Her dad died last year. She is in continuous pain, sometimes are worse than others. She may need more surgery. I wish I could say more but that's all I know for sure.

Except that she is a tough gal.

Thanks Lars.

I hope, even though there is a lot of negativity on this board, that y'all at least TRY to see the good in your life, and to appreciate the many blessings that you enjoy.

Just out of curiosity, what was it about the accident that had such serious repurcussions?

Tarz--

I don't know medical details. She was run over by a truck while crossing a Bradentown street as a pedestrian. She was in a coma for 3-4 days. Many bones were broken, including her back. There were internal injuries that have not healed (liver I think). She had several surgeries for back, legs and I don't know what. She had a pre-existing brain tumor. She periodically goes to ER with infections. Sorry, that's all I know.

Many would not have survived the initial accident. I don't know if there is a prognosis at this time. Her spirits are good when the pain is under control.

I was just thinking of her the other day, Lars. She'd come back for a day or two, and then POOF! It's a shame she never got those little potato-head people we sent her. [I wonder who's dusting those little guys now.]

Lars, thank you so much for your update on Oxy, and please give us more when you can. My God, what she's been through; what an incredible fighter!

Thanks to you all for your caring remarks on Oxy. I will pass them on, next time I speak with her. I know she will be pleased.

Thanks from KB8 (Dave), I passed the thread onto him. His financees father passed away and he quit reading boards. I didn't ever talk with Oxy but I read the post about the tractor, she's a good writer! I wish her good luck & good healing. But, God! Cleveland in the summertime I hope she's in a burb, not actual Cleveland. Its hotter than Hell up there and Erie stinks bad in July and August.

Cleveland can't be hotter than Tampa, can it? It's more the winter that would concern me. She's in Lakewood, a western burb, I believe. Anyway, thanks. Hope KB8 returns. He's a pretty good writer too.

Lakewood is okay. You don't understand Cleveland vs Tampa air, 90 in Tampa is hot but 90 and muggy in Cleveland is an underwear-up-your- crotch day, if you get my drift? Lakewood is a burb with trees and green space. When there is a temperature inversion in Cleveland you can smell the dead junk from Lake Erie as far inland as Oberlin 60 mi away. Lakewood gets some breeze so it doesn't stink so bad. This is why most of us young guys who could moved to Dayton and Columbus, we are close enough to party on Erie but don't have to live with the smell all the time, plus wages are higher down state. Lots of good doctors in Cleveland because those mafia guys are always needing help so Oxy should have good care. Be good to yourself Lars. Time to for me to go home and watch my grass die.
