Excellent! Is charver a regular comic strip then? What paper is he in?

It's the cartoon for a new on-line mag: http://www.newcastlestuff.com.

My sister sent me the URL so don't know much else I'm afraid.

Cheers ML3! A copy and paste job is forthwith upon us. A quick question if I may? Are there any Geordie Lurkers on the RTG? I know there are, but have any adopted the GL1,2,3 handle as it were??

There are many Geordie Lurkers on RTG.

First there's the Strawberry regs (Jay, wonkey, Ashington Mag, Homer, JacCarter, Zebra etc). They tend to use their usual "handles" and get treated with respect.

Secondly, there's the dangerous, mischievous types who pretend to be mackems to start viscious rumours. One or two regulars from this board fall into this category (you know who you are ;)).

Finally, there are the out and out juvenile nutters who post abuse.

The latter two groups tend to get short shrift of the four letter variety. That's just the way RTG is.

Mackem Lurker is not a very clever name, it's the result of me not being sure of the reception I might get. I could revert to my RTG handle, but it would only confuse folk now...

Awwwwwwwwwww go on. I used to visit the RTG, but was banned some time back for apparently pointing out a few facts about how makem is spelt? And now I can't access the strawberry for some reason, it may be a conspiracy. I actually used a name given to me by you lot. I never posted anything abusive although the abuse I got hence the name) was huge.

Abuse between the two sets of fans is just so stupid - life is too short for that kind of nonsense. The gentle piss-take as evidenced by this "Everyday story of Tyneside folk" is something we can all laugh at and enjoy, and as far as the rivalry should ever go.

My dream would be unsegregated derbies at SJP and SOL, proving to the wider world that the people of the North East are a higher form of life. We are prevented from this by a minority of idiots who we should be converting or chasing out of our game.

Well said Jonno. Serious, grown up, good humoured rivalry is one thing. But I've always thought it's to the loss of both sets of supporters that there's so much ritual "them and us".

Be proud of your team. But also be proud of the North East. Know this will land on a lot of deaf ears...but have you seen the world map recently - and how many Premiership teams there are in the NE? Just ask Bobby Robson about Sunderland and Boro. Don't think he'll be referring to chimps and smoggies. Or is it far too late to change attitudes born and bred in the playground?
