What inspired your e-mail nick name?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Some of you have some very interesting nicknames.

We know that Sheepish has something to do with that smile of hers.

What about Jz, is that a name or what! When I read that I hear a little sigh.

I picture John Nativent, strong and independent on his native land.

When I read Cat Flunky I picture Joy sprawled out on the sofa ,plunked down like a comfortable house cat.

juliefrumplefrog skin, I picture a rumpled little frog looking at me with her friendly eyes, head tilted to one side.

When I read Jim Morris prism, then I see Jim ,a crystal like solid with transparent sides in his hands ,through which pass rays of light, energy and communication ,splashing beams of color in all directions.

When I read Kirkay, I think hey Kirk!

Sharon wildflower I see as free and beautiful as a flower .

Debra in Ks, I see her on a wind swept plain looking out from her window.

SherriCCeltiaskye, I see her, arms outstretched towards the sky of pink and red, silhouetted against the sunset.

Earth mama I see as loving and aware of her mother earth and her children.

Dianegardiacaprines, stands with her arms wide open ready to protect and guard the floundering ones around her.

Trevillians makes me picture someone on an adventursome journey.

O.K. I'm getten tired if I missed anybody don't feel bad, it's just that the bed is calling.

so I told you what your names make me see. Tell us what inspired you to name yourselve what you did.

My name Trendlespin came about because Trendle is my name and we had had a real buzy day, hauling manure, rocks , then setting up the computer. My husband wanting to get so much done asked me what I wanted my name to be, and as I stumbled up the steps to enter the world of dreams, all that would come to my head was Trendlespin, and so it remains. It has been a real journey spinning into this cyber world.

Nite, Nite, Love TRen

Oh Man! As I was snailing up those steps to hit the sack, I remembered MartyMrsPuck, now isn't that delightful! I see this mischievous little wife of an elf, who's eyes are sparkling and dancing as she turns and puckers up and lands a kiss right on the jolly fat cheek of Mr Puck himself.

Holy Cow Trennie you gave me a huge smile on this one!! When I see Trendlespin a creative poet who makes the flowers grow!!!

My name is easy. My middle initial is A and as long as I can remember everyone has called me Kirk A......

Hey Trennie,

You have such a beautiful imagination. I sometimes also wonder about our forum friends and try to picture in my mind what they are like from their e-mail names. Thank you for seeing me as someone on an adventuresome journey because I guess that's how I see life. It's not the destination but the journey.

When I first started posting I used my (then) e-mail address which contains my whole name which bothered me slightly because it seemed kinda "exposed" to have my whole name floating around in cyber- space. Just recently I had to change my e-mail provider so I decided to use an e-mail address that was a little less personal. Trevilians is actually the very small dot on the map in central Virginia where I grew up. The only significant thing about Trevilians (besides being my homeplace) is that a great civil war battle was fought in the field right next to my mother's house. General Custer camped in what is now her backyard. As children, we used to find all kinds of civil war stuff like bullets and buckles, etc. Great place to grow up.

Wishing you enough.

Hey TRen I've wondered about these names myself and yes you did leave me out but that's okay. I married my dear Brian four years ago and was amazed at the number of chickadee's in our valley , I took this as a very good sign since I had adopted the chickadee as my favorite bird several years before. When we got our goats and wanted a herd and farm name we come up with Chickadee Valley. Sweet Thread. Sherry

Ah sherry! Sherry chickadee, makes me see a cheerful little bird hopping about doing her many duties,as she sings a pretty song!

Ah man Sherry, that makes me sad, cause I had you on there too, on the first one that I wrote, the one that dissapeared into space! Where Do things go when that happens! I was so mad , had them all wrote out, then , slip, off it went.

Trendle, you make me smile a lot! :-)

I too have spent many minutes pondering the people behind the name. Just today I've discovered hidden genders. (O.K., I don't read every single post, my secret is out)

I had noticed you didn't have me in the main body, but I figured what on earth could be interesting about Marty Mrs.Puck? I sure did laugh when I read what you said. I'm axiously awaiting everyone else's responses!

Marty because that's my commen name. Mrs.Puck because it's most of my last name (Puckett) and I couldn't get anything cooler while signing up for excite mail, but since I'd just gotten married days before I decided (LOL) to go with MRS to shock my friends and family who know me as fiercly independent and voted me "least like to mind being an old maid" at a family reunion. As it happens my very DH used to be one right jolly old elf, then he lost 140 lbs while retaiing his elflike nature to get me to marry him, and it's been lot's of kisses on the cheek every since. It is quiet a romantic story, but I'll save that for another post.

Happy wishes to all my BTSW friends....

At the time I got my very first email account I was considering raising Scottish Fold cats as a hobby, so I decided to come up with an email address that I could use for the cattery as well as for myself. I've had a lifelong facination with Scotland, I'm Scottish on my mom's side of the family and I have been there once on vacation. I also am very much a cat person. My mom's ancestors were part of the Clan Chattan confederation, the name translates as Clan of the Cat. My favorite character in Celtic mythology is Scathach, she was a powerful seer and witch and she ran a famous school for warriors on the Isle of Skye. Some of the old stories refer to her as the goddess with the head of a cat. So I tried to come up with a name that would pull all of these ideas together. My first attempt was ScottishSkye, but it was too long. Then I tried CelticSkye, but it was already taken. So then I tried CeltiaSkye, and it was just right. BTW, the cattery never came about, but I kept the name.

I have another email address that I use on some other lists, it's RavenHeart44. RavenHeart is the name of one of the characters I play in Dungeons and Dragons, and 44 was my dad's number when he played high school football.

The first two letters are my first and middle initials: j is for Julio, r is for Rafael, Guerra is my last name. I've been nicknamed j.r. for longer than I remember. I'm also a junior (Dad's first born).

In fact, it takes me a few seconds to respond to my proper name now; someone calls me and brain sez "Hey you . . . yeah you, the scruffy one . . . they are talking to you!" LOL.

Well I guess I'm cheating 'cause it's actually my hubby's email address...Olaf the Strong is the Viking warrior he portrays when we re-enact...and 72 the year he was born. (yeah he's younger than me! I'm such a cradle robber!)

-- Anonymous, July 20, 2001

Well, my nickname is pretty boring next to some of you folks! When hubby and I were in H.S. (waaaaaay back in the 60's), if there was a beach party going on, some people would ask if "Har and Mar" were going. We are Harry and Marcia. So I just shortened it to HrMr. It's the only email address we have!!

I have always loved the Yarrow flower... as they are light, delicate and airy (I'm working towards that goal again :-}).... plus I like to think positively that being a lovely lady...would help my tomboyish ways... and renaissance.. is another forum I frequent... okay, okay... the e-mail address was used in secret friends...

thanks trendle for the smiles and pictures in our minds

I have lots of yarrow growing wild around my house, and everytime I look at it I think of you, Yarrow, and BTS!

-- Anonymous, July 20, 2001

Yarrow, me too, what Marcia said. I also have some "cultivated" yarrow of different colors that I used to love to dry and use in dry flower arrangements.

Well, when you all look at rocks do you think of me? HA HA

Really, ours is named after the Ranch, the craft business, and because we like it as it gives us a foundation to live by.

Matthew 7:24...All who listen to my instructions and follow them are wise, like a man who builds his house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torments, and the floods rise and the storm winds beat against the house, it won't collapse, for it is built on rock.

It's simple. Just be the best you can with what you have, cheat no one, be thankful for all you have, don't lie, don't steal, don't worship money, love your neighbor, give to others, love your spouse with your whole heart, no grudges, no unforgiveness, take good care of what you have and never stop doing good. And learn, never stop learning and growing.

No matter what, no matter how tempted we are in life, don't bring troubles on ourselves when we know better.

Loved all your answers!

Emama....Steve calls you Mother Earth when I am doing my arm exercises. I just giggle and let it go.

Gee, after that, mine sounds kind of inconsequential. I'm a Frog person. As you may have clued in, I find them everywhere, they find me. My best friend when I was a child was my stuffed toy frog that I got for christmas when I was 6. He's very old and beaten up from the miles covered and the amount of salt he absorbed over the years. I had pajamas with frogs on, stationery, the whole thing. I raised tadpoles into frogs that I released. Now I've got ceramic ones in the bathroom, one on the doorbell, and various ones carved of marble from China, turquoise from the desert southwest, little clay ones, ceramic ones, and so on.

So anyway, when everything started to blow up over on CS forum so it wasn't safe to use your own private email address anymore and everyone had to go out and get anonymous addresses, Joy got her cool address down as Cat Flunky (She Who Lives To Serve Cats) and I was a tad jealous. Since I didn't want to use my full name anymore with people I couldn't trust anymore, I decided that I would borrow from the story of Rumplestiltskin ("is my name --") and now Rumplefrogskin is my name.

At the moment I've got two African Dwarf frogs living in the bathroom too -- Puu and Puu Deux. They're terribly spoiled for frogs the size of bumblebees.

I chose when I first went on the internet to just be me. It is wonderful for business, the small amount of nasty mail and spam is just a small irritant compared to all the other plus's!! Lonesome Doe is the name of my Nubian Dairy Goat farm, 15 years next month. I still have another email for unrelated goat matters, and my ISP for important things like EBAY!! Vicki

-- Anonymous, July 21, 2001

Nothing too exotic here. Its an abbreviation of the business name NATURAL LIVING ENTERPRISES

-- Anonymous, July 21, 2001

The word "prism" in my email address stands for: Permaculture Research Institute of Southern Minnesota - P.R.I.S.M.

I haven't done much permaculture research here yet but it's definitely on my "to do" list. ;-)

My name got altered to "Jay" as a aka when I started using my initial instead of my name and my freinds in school thought it looked cooler as "Jay" instead of "J.". Its been this way 25 years now.

-- Anonymous, July 26, 2001

Forgot to add, the "678" in my address was besause of the other jayblairs out there and its my hat size 6 7/8 :>)

-- Anonymous, July 26, 2001

Oh, this came up while I was gone, and I forgot to add to it.
