I use an EOS3 with a 300mm f4 lens and a 2X converter and find the focusing very good. I have also used the camera with the 300mm and both a 1.4X and 2X converter (effective lenght 840mm)in situations where this was the only way that I could get the shot. The camera still autofocuses acceptably and I was surprised with the quality of the images.
