Fed up with the negetivity?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

IS it just me but are others getting fed up with the negetive slant Journos are putting on all NUFC stories.

Arsenal - signed two players, one underperformed in a poor team last year the other a local lad on a free transfer, star player is reported to want to leave. No future signings likely.

Newcastle United - siged two players, one underperformed last season after a promising start, the other a highly talented local lad. Star player is reported to want a transfer. Club linked with many star players from accross Europe with realistic bids.

I've been depressed with the negativity on here of late. I feel we have been far too impatient with regard to signings as some of the big signings often happen just before the season begins. The fact that Dyer appears to want away is convincing some of us we're not a big club any more. Well Viera wants away from Arse, and there was Anelka before him, and that doesn't make for a small Arse.

Apparently, because we are not in Europe we can't attract class players any more. What utter twaddle when you think about it. This is the second biggest club in England with a fantastic support and stadium. Any player who cannot see what can be achieved here doesn't deserve to play for us and I don't respect his intelligence. Small club? Small minded players more like - put the idiots from your mind.

I've not been reading the journos but it's up to us to stay positive and focussed. Negativity is a cancer, it grows malignantly amongst the fans and transmits itself to the players. During the Metro commentary from Lokeren one of the interviewees (possibly Elliot?) said that confidence in the camp was sky high. Good. We should be the same - the club has won every match it has played this season so far. This can be a great season. The part we play in it is small but does have significance. Let's back them to the hilt and stop criticising players before they've kicked a ball for the club.

Couldnt agree more Jonno, you've took the words right out of my mouth and artitculated them to absolute perfection....

Have you also considered like me that negative spin is a ploy -by certain jealous club associates- to knack merchandise and weaken our financial muscle? eg. season ticket sales, toon tops etc.

BTW what does 'TIWY' stand for?

WDYM (What do you mean) BTW? :-)

You must be new in these parts! TIWY stands for This Is Wor Year - I coined it at the start of KD's full season, the season where we went from CL entrants to Nationwide candidates in one TSM(The Scottish Manager)-inspired swoop! On the old style bbs you first got a thread title and then a message title so the thing opened out as

This ....
Is ...
Wor Year!!!

It was very popular with people signing off their messages with TIWY, and I've never lived it down since. Having tried to disown it for a while I think maybe I'll put it on the back of my next shirt. With a bit of luck it always looks OK in August and then as the weather turns colder I can wear something on top of it! :-)

T.I.O.Y for sure.

I've tried to stay positive over the last few months, It's been dificult with all these negative ions flying around the bbs,but I now feel that there's a ray of optimism.

How many do you think we'll put past 1860 Múnich on August 1st?

IKOLI (I kind of like it) Jonno T.I.W.Y.A.W.A.T.S.B.C.D.B.T.J.A.C.S.L.L.S.W.A.T.T.T.H.A.T.C.A.W.W.P.

(This Is Wor Year And We Are The Second Biggest Club, Dont Believe The Jealous Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, London, Leeds Spin Which Aims To Turn The Hurd Against The Club And Weaken Wor Potential.)

OTT and a bit of a mouth full but as Rik was into long titles once, I dont see why not.

'T.I.W.Y.A.W.A.T.S.B.C.D.B.T.J.A.C.S.L.L.S.W.A.T.T.T.H.A.T.C.A.W.W.P'

Can't see it unfortunately Syme. Todays interview on his web site is the most negative yet re Newcastle. His agent won't be back till early next week, so no decisions of any sort before that. He reiterates he is a PSG player, and denies having been to Fulham or Newcastle to have a look. Only positive is that he obviously is still negotiating, but seemingly just to better his package at PSG.

Never saw that Pete. I am simply going on the fact that YBR and Shepard are meeting this weekend to figure why no one wants to come here and play. I guess I am hoping that Bobby will put his foot down and say something like " I don't give a flying F*@k what you do just get it done" I am heading for the door clutching me straws.

Must be an attack of "old timers" jonno. Would have sworn the "W" was mine?

Indeed Gus - the thing began as TIOY and you correctly pointed out that as Geordies it should be TIWY.

WANK ?

...or is that too subtle for ya?

;7)

You'd better work it out for yersel, or others on here might think I'm insulting ya / windin' ya up? :-)
