a/v sync problem fix

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

i have a videoCD where the audio is perfectly in sync with the video at the beginning but as the MPEG-1 stream progresses, the audio seems to be out of sync with the video. Is there a way to correct the audio speed problem. please lead me to a link / software / freeware that can extract the audio and replace the audio stream with the corrected audio stream.

thanks

I've got a few suggestions that might help. First of all, you can get the free TMPGenc program (www.tmpgenc.com) and try demuxing and remuxing the video with the MPEG Tools option. When you remux, use the VCD template. I think TMPGenc may have a tool that can offset the audio a little, but I will warn you that it's not very good. Second (I think this is your best option), get the demo version of the MPG2VCR editor at www.womble.com. The demo only works with MPEG-1 video (the commercial version also supports MPEG-2) and it has an excellent tool under the Multiplexer where you can specify an amount to move the audio forwards or backwards during muxing. You'll have to play with it a little to find the right value, but this can fix most sync problems I've run into.
