Found this very interesting and rather scary site today, while poking around looing for other things:

Optimal Health

I don't know if I agree with all of it. And even if I do, I'm not confident that I could do all of it. A lot of his dietary advice conflicts with what I've been told I can and cannot eat by my naturopath. But it was interesting.

If you have an insulin resistance problem then his ideas work very well. The book Protein Power explains why. Eating this way was the ONLY way I have been able to lose weight which in turn has lowered my blood pressure and put my blood sugar count back into normal range (had diabetes). I don't, however, believe everyone needs to eat this way. It seems that everyone's systems are different and we need to find what is healthy for us. Do you all think so too?

Good Lord; I read the article, especially the foods to avoid and I think I have been dead for the past 12 years (wife would agree; flat line brain waves, she claims). I would have to make some MAJOR changes in my life to accomodate this meal plan.

Might have some relevance; my wife bought some supermarket Chinese food and had a major migraine headache. Maybe MSG caused this, maybe not.

Interesting.Very close to what I'm doing now to avoid allergens. My diet is a little more restricted.I continue to slowly lose weight as a side effect. Not anorexic yet! Not even close.

Root veggies have a lot of pesticides in them from soil accumulation. So,I can see why they would be avoided if you purchase from the market.I can eat potatoes from our garden(organic) but not from the store.

Modern food growing and processing system has wreaked havoc with our bodies.

Grow your own.

Agree with Terry on everyone needing to find what works for them.

I follow most of what he recommends more than 90% of the time, am losing weight gradually and am in good health. The other 10% would be eating out from time to time, but even then I never eat sugar and rarely have anything with artifical sweatener.

I just went for a check-up and the assistant asked me what conditions I have and what medications I take, when I said none, she started naming the usual ailments folks my age might have, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and I told her all I have is a little rash on my leg that I get from time to time. I do take vitamins and herbs but none of their high priced medications. I only go to the doctor to get their opinion and to get annual check-ups, on some things their educated guess might be better than mine, but not on all things.

Good health and peace of mind are truely a blessings.

Namaste,

I have always said, you are what you eat, if you eat a diet full of fat and additives, you have to expect heart disease as your arteries fill up with cholesterol, and all types of cancers from the pesticides, herbicides, and fungicide residues that are in your non- organic store bought food.

Another series of books that is VERY eye opening is those written by Dr. John MacDougall, a cardiologist, who promises that even folks with terrible HBP and angina can stop taking their medicines within 12 weeks IF the follow his diet and exersize plan and permanently change their eating habits. It worked for me, and greatly relieves chronic arthritis too, as well as a host of other chronic ailments.
