Lets sell the little sh1t

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Right !! I'm sick of the Dyer stuff.

Lets sell him. Results show that we usually lose when Solano AND Dyer play together. They are too lightweight and too right sided. So sell the little sod. Get 22 million minimum. The tosser will never sign another contract so we'll have to sell soon anyway. Last thing we need is him doing a Sol Cambell and leaving on a free. All this talk of building the team around him is stupid. He's only got 2 years left on his contract. This time next summer the offers will be down around 8 million because clubs will know we have to sell or he'll go for free in a years time.

Arrggg. I've changed my mind again. Lets keep him. He only wants what we want. He may force the board to improve things.

KEEP KEEP KEEP.

But the board are already willing to spend the cash. We just can't get anyone to sign. Dyer will walk for free in 2 years time. We better cash in now.

Just got an email from Tynedale Man. He, Sting et al are going for a beer after work. I don't know what to do. Should I go or not. This whole Dyer business has got me tied in knots. No, a quiet night in for me I think.

Sell. Buy. Keep. 'hic. Oh sod it. I'm off to the pub with Tynedale. Now what beer should I have...

I heard that you'd slept with half of Tynedale Nicholas. Which half though?

The over 50's. All of them.

I think - please confirm someone - he still has 3 years left on his Contract. So, it seems to me that now is not the time to cash in on him.
Firstly, he is nowhere near being fit to play and it seems doubtful anyone would pay money for him until he has proven his fitness, and indeed his form. While he is here he could just help us attract a good player or two - tenuous but possible.
In addition, I feel we need another season from KD to hopefully determine what is his best position, and whether we can build a successful team around him.
If we were to have a relatively successful season, were able to add one or two top players to the squad, and things were looking distinctly promising, that would be the time to try to get KD to sign a contract extension to keep him here for at least another 4 seasons. If he refused to sign the extension, we should sell him - but hopefully on the back of him having contributed to a successful season.
If we have another season of toil and struggle he will be off, no question. Dyer's Agent has said in the papers this morning that KD has not asked for a transfer and will be playing for Newcastle this season. I have a strong suspicion that he and FS have probably struck a deal along those lines - if things look highly positive for KD and the Toon by the end of this season he will discuss an extension; however, if he is still unhappy at our prospects at the end of the season we will be agreeable to letting him move on.

Clarky-your idea of the scenario---ie Agreement between player(agent) and club that if we do well he could stay whilst if we don't eg not qualify for European football for next season---seems to me most true or at least most likely--lets hope so anyway. Mind you I am pi**ed off that we have no major signings--you can't tell me that all top players in S.America and E.Europe all act like "lemmings" Fifties Fan

His contract runs out in June 2003. I made a big deal out of this when I pushed for selling him before. No club will offer silly money at the end of this season for a player with 12 months until a Bosman. We will be desperate to get something then and they will all know it. He saw us as a stepping stone to glory. I've never doubted this and won't shed a single tear for the overrated, obnoxious little prick when he's gone. The thought of him being the centre of the team teaching Chopra, Offiong and Damon Robson how not to behave in a year's time gives me the heebie-jeebies. If you wallow in sh*t you're going to get dirty.

Is there any confirmation from the club that Dyer wants to leave, or is it all hear-say?

If he does want to leave, money on it's own is no good , we want cah and a decent player, preferably a left winger.

Also if he is sold I think the club should give EVERY season ticket holder a £100 club shop voucher to keep them happy and to share in Newcastle United's windfall.

Life moves on, the day we sold Cole i was devastated. I thought we were always going to be selling our best. I reckon Keegan sold him because he felt he could get better (Ferdinand and Ginola) he did. The problem for me isn't Dyer, it's what happens whence he's gone. I would hate to think of what might happen. If he left i wouldn't be devastated, i would be though if we replaced him with some Sinclair type players. To be blunt i think a lot hinges on this season and our next manager.

So do we sell him or what?

-- Anonymous, July 19, 2001

Sell him just before we appoint a new manager next year - give the new bloke some money to spend.
