greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

noticed skito's comment on my razzmatazz score. my impression was the dos/win/other selection on uploading was representative of mamew, which is the official version now, mame32 being the GUI version that still runs off the old dos core (in the process of being updated)

is this correct? not trying to cause any headaches for the confirmers, but haven't been here for a while.

I think that Dos/win/other etc means everything except the mamew, but I may be wrong of course. I have submitted my scores by that rule, and no complains yet at least :=)

ps Nice to have you back QT!

Hmm after looking at the options of the submit page I think I was wrong and you are right QT :=)

I think Gameboy9 has now answered this for you on the main MARP page.

Welcome back QT - hope you're refreshed and ready for some more battles on some of the old classics. ;-)

Cheers, BeeJay.

PS: QRS is looking for some competition on Hero and it's a game that just might suit your tastes. You'll grow to hate arrows though!!

GameBoy9: after reading the news post of combining mamew and mame i have the possibly over heard comment.

There is a difference between the two, bullfight is the first (and not last) game where recordings made with mamew do not playback with mame, i really think we need another specific dos entry and mamew entry, but you already know that (i think.)

Therefore to clarify for the current:

XXX_game_score_mXXbXX.zip recordings could be recorded with mame or mamew.

XXX_game_score_winXXbXX.zip recordings could be recording with mame32, mac, xmame or unofficial mames.

The second category has more serious playback differences between platforms, but for the first category only bullfight needs the "w" added or not at least to the description of recordings.

oh bullfight AND razzmataz are the intitial list of games that don't have compatible recordings between mame and mamew platforms. and then there were two.

Thank-you for taking the time to check these, Chad. I disagree, however. 'D' should instead be added for Dos under the description, since mamew is now the official version of MAME.

w or d, doesn't really matter, but i think there should be some difference, can't argue that mamew is the official version. however m35b15 is a dos recording and then m37b17 being a mamew recording (and m37b17d being the dos version) sort of goes against a marp standard.

btw, you're welcome and welcome back QT, glad to see you rear that ugly mug of yours now and again :)
