Forthcoming Attraction

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Since I was banging on about the Radio 4 Program "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" - the antidote to panel games, I've been literally deluged with a request from Screacher to introduce a version of the game on the BBS. This seems to me to be the ideal forum for ISIHAC, given that they nicked the title from several Kenny Dalglish post match interviews.

So I'm very pleased to be able to announce that the BBS ISIHAC will be coming your way very soon. I shall introduce a series of games in Humphrey Littleton fashion (he's 80 this year so I should be able to do this quite well) and invite you all to take part. Should there be the slightest scintilla of interest shown then this feature is likely to continue - you have been warned. I recall dear old ITK starting off a round of Welsh Filmclub during last year. It was good fun but he and me were the sole contributors I think, so this may fall a bit flat! So - hone your wits - gird up your loins - brush up on the rules to Mornington Crescent - widely available at all good bookshops, libraries and on the net, and be ready to play your part in the BBS "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue".

Our first show will be coming to you live from The Stadium of Light in Sunderland. Tickets are available either from the BBS ticket unit or direct from the SOL itself. As you know all tickets from the BBS ticket unit are free and it is nice to know that we shall be upholding a long-standing Stadium of Light tradition in this respect. BTW we do recommend that you obtain your tickets from the BBS and not direct from the SOL as you may well be sent half a dozen free Season tickets (which are a bu99er to get rid of) should you apply directly to SOL.

Demand is sure to be strong for this prestigious event so book now to avoid disappointment.

Rules to Mornington Crescent

Are the rules covered by the Official Secrets Act Jonno, cos 'this page cannot be displayed' ? Or is it part of the game ?

Owing to the popularity of Mornington Crescent this site is often very busy - just keep trying, or wait till the game starts and you'll soon pick it up.

That's very clever jonno! There is nowt on the site - but it appears to load about one quarter of the way then suddenly displays "This site is not available"!

There is one better though. If you go to ntlsports (Rik's site - but only a vestige of it's former glory), go to NUFCSearch, and find a Guardian story and click on it then it displays for less than a second and cuts my machine right off! Blank, nothing works! I think that's truly great - the ULTIMATE misprint by the Grauniad. After all they developed misprints to be an attractive selling feature.

We just have to find something to do until(?) we make a big signing.
