Does any one know how to take the top cover of hexar off. Need to fine tune the rangefinder, and the small hole access hole on the top is not good enough. Thanks !

Ya know, I had the same problem with mine. Couldn't get it to align through the little hole. But instead of taking the top off, I took it to a professional to have it re-calibrated. It came back to me perfectly aligned and calibrated for less than $100.

It is IMHO only that I suggest the following: if you have to ask how to get the top plate off you probably shouldn't be tinkering around with the insides anyway ;-)

The horizontal alignment (coincidence at infinity)is adjustable through the hole in the top plate. I adjusted the vertical misalignment in mine by pressing up on the follower arm in the lens opening but mine was off by only a tiny bit, and in restrospect this was a *really stupid* thing to try. If you need to remove the top- plate to service your RF, have someone (preferably Konica) do it-- trust me!

The old days of someone who can change oil in their car doing their own camera repairs are gone. The new cameras with their sophisticated electronics (M6-TTL and Konica RF) require special care so you do not zap the electronics. So if you change the oil in your car AND troubleshoot board level electronics, go right ahead. Otherwise send it to a qualified repair person. It will be much cheaper in the long run.

Cheers,
