what was i saying...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

"Seizing onto a sweet throughball from Bassedas on 13 minutes, Bellamy fairly flew to the Lokeren byline.

He then pulled back a perfect pass for the inrushing Wayne Quinn to slide home his first goal in a black and white shirt - and get United's season off to a cracking start." journal

Bassedas could just come good this year, pace up front will open up his passing game.

anything else of interest in the Journal. icNewcastle is of course not updated yet (8.40 am) and I am curious.

Any Dyer stories or will that one be in the Chron do you think?

God this Dyer stuff is dragging on and on. The media won't be happy until he leaves (which is looking more and more likely). If he hadn't thought about moving before, the Leeds Utd fueled rumours will have certainly started him thinking. Never a day goes by when it is not mentioned. No way he should go to anothe PL team and if he HAS to, we must get some decent players in exchange as well as cash.

Look I'm going on about it now!

Lynda,
Nah, nothing really new or interesting - some baloney about Shola saying he is only keeping the No9 shirt warm for Big Al.
The Dyer story was precisely, word for word, the same one I read on the internet last night - Sportal or something like that. Lazy tossers!

Thanks for the info. Living away from Newcastle means I have to rely on the internet versions of Journal and Chron and the site is pretty slow at updates.

BTW - I agree with you about Bassedas, he had no pre-season last year and has had to try and adapt to a more physical game. Like solano he maybe needed another season to settle in. Hope so anyway.

swift, as I have said many times before, it is not a matter of him, (Bassedas) adjusting to the premiership, but the rest of the team adjusting to him.

I am sure his brain is thinking a yard or so quicker than the others. He looks up sees where players are then hits the ball to where they should be running.

When the player decides to stop or runs elsewhere Bassedas looks the guilty party. I know he should also adapt, however he was not bought to put the ball at peoples feet so they have their back to goal. Buying him for his qualities so let them be used.

That's been the problem since Keegan left IMO. We've seen the odd glimpse of it on occasion, but nothing consistent. The sooner we get back to playing that way the better.

I think I'll become a born-again Bassedas fan myself.

I thought Basseda were bath salts ?

More seriously as I said last year he'll do. Movement up front - 4 goals - now there's a coincidence.

I've only seen him 3 times but vs Sunderland he was our best outfield player, other times he's been out of position.
