i believe i would go to the hardware store and get a can of mineral spirits, some old rags, and start wiping. that should do it.

good luck and let us know how it works out

I would use something that will not ruin the original wood finish, the mineral spirits will take the finish off and you will be left with barish, dull floor.

I cleaned houses for a living for over 15 years and have found Murphy's Oil Soap liquid to be safe on wood floors, use it as directed on the label with very hot water, will remove the Pledge wax and leave the original wood finish. Dry immediately afterwards to eliminate streaking with old towels or dishcloths and to restore the shine, Murphy's leaves a nice sheen if dried this way, sort of a buffing motion like waxing a car.

You could try wiping down with vinegar first, then use the Murphy's Oil soap. I sometimes wash my wood floors with a vinegar and water solution between my mopping with Murphy's. Jean

Varsol is useful in removing polish buildup from furniture so it should work on a floor but just to be safe I would do the vinegar and water thing after a good scrubbing to remove and soap and polish residue left...and don't use furniture polish on the floor again! I tried that when I was a kid "helping " my mom. I thought she'd love it when I made that dull floor sooo shiny. PS: she didn't. Maybe it was the near breaking of her neck when the area rug shot out from under her feet....?

My son accidentally got "pledge" on our linoleum while helping dust. My, was it slick!! I finally scrubbed it off. I'd use the murphy oil soap on your wood. Good luck! DW
