Craig Bellyman - vindicated yet?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Having listened to the match and read the reports, he seemed to be at the centre of everything that mattered. Two assists and a hand in a third - another performance like that we'll see a lot of toon tops with no.17 on the back. No, it wasn't the premiership, but does anyone here still think we've bought a dud?

More happy now about then when we bought him. Still would like him to score next match. Should be good for the lad.

It's teh proce tag that is the problem. A failed player from a relegated side should mean time for a bargain.

Compared to the ridiculous double-digit millions being spent elsewhere, 6mil probably is a bargain. :-(

Very glad Bellamy and other maligned players (Quinn, LuaLua, Bassedas) did so well yesterday. Sure it's not the premiership or even top Euro opponents, but it's a great start. Anyway...who were the teams we beat last season(Leeds x2, tied ManU at home) and who were the teams we lost to last season(Birmingham, Bradford, Charlton)?

And how many of us seriously thought we'd manage a 4-0 score before yesterday? Yes, it's just one game, but there is some reason for cautious hope. Until we get turned over by Lokeren putting 5 unanswered goals past us next week ;-))

Sure, Bellamy did well yesterday but a note of caution. Remember the pre-season Jon Dahl Tomasson had in 1997? Remember his two effortless goals against PSV, who are a different propostion to Lokeren.

I'm afraid NONE of these players will prove their worth until they're winning games in the Prem.

I hope Bellamy turns out to be a better version of Dyer, but i can only hope.

On step at a time. Very promising start, but let's not start to put pressure on the blerk already.
Something about swallows and summer springs readily to mind.

It has always been Bellamy's stance and that of his manager at Norwich that his best position was behind the strikers. If he lives up to Bobby's expectations I reckon NUFC may end up playing a Christmass tree formation with Dyer and Bellamy behind a lone striker of either Shearer, Cort or Ameobi.
