Leica International Warranty?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I just bought a new Leica M6 TTL and lens from a seller overseas, and I was wondering how the warranty works.

On the Leica warranty card, it says "(3) Warranty claims can only be made by submission of this Warranty Card which has been completed with date of purchase, address and signature of the authorized photo dealer. "

I'm guessing the person that I bought from isn't an authorized dealer. He didn't sign the cards. Is it still possible to get the warranty if anything happens?

If it wasn't purchased from an authorized Leica dealer, your chances of obtaining warranty service from Leica (in any country) don't sound very promising. At least Leica NJ won't refuse to service it, though you might do better price and time-wise from one of the well- respected independents like DAG or Sherry Krauter.
