Once you've got Windows Media Player, just click on the MetroRadio pic before the game to listen in!"

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

What a to$$er this common tatie is

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

This guy needs to shut his trap. Last thing we need is to think we've got this match won now. We're all too capable of throwing it away in the second half. ATTACK!! ATTACK!! ATTACK!!

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

What the $#@% is the love parade?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Enjoy it, it's the only time we'll be hearing this kind of commentary this season, ie one in which we score several goals and look good. God, can you imagine the quality of the team Lokeren beat in the first round?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Brad - Love Parade is a Radio 1 dance party that was supposed to be taking place in N'cle with top dj's and that.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Ah, that's what happened to the Mackems ;-)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, all at the licence payers expense??

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Ahh..thanks. that actually seems alot more sensible than the image I had conjured up in my mind :-)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

*lol* @ Screacher! :O)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

HT 3-0! Let's have 3 more inthe second half, lads!

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Canny score at HT. More of the same in the 2nd

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Getting a bit sloppy, thankfully it's halftime.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Ah, missed the first half. Looks like we really fired up! Great work from Shola!!!

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Brad, you were maybe thinking it was a lluuuurrrrrrrrv parade?(;o)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Screach. I've sent a couple of updates to Expat. Have you had any response?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

howay lads and ladies.....I wonder if the result will lift spirits a little around the BBS???? Surely, Lokeren are a poor side, but it' not as though we are 100% either.....

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Only 3 more Ciara, we must make hay while the sun shines or, is it dark there already?

;7)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Who is playing and where?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

TJG. Nowt. I can track my SMS messages and he hasn't rec'd either of the 2 I've sent. I guess his missus won't let him play with her equipment ;-)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Given, Barton, Hughes, Dabz, Elliott, Solano, Speed, Bassedas, Quinn, Ameobi, Bellamy.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

I can see Lua Lua getting a run out and flattering to deceive in the 2nd half - this is about his level.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Lokeren may be a poor side but in last season pre-seasons games we struggled to beat teams of similar ability. I think the fact we've got something to play for has given us the edge. I'd rather the lads prepare for the season like this than playing worthless friendlies.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

GOOD EVENING LADS n LASSES sorted myself out wiv real player last night - like the official site told me. Sat down to tune in and.....

Well 45 mins of pissing about and I'm Windozed-up now, er, have I missed owt

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

107 new answers on last count. Yes, this isn't exactly the Premiership. But isn't it great to have some action? And whatever happened to Amber Ale????

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Same here, Wonkey. They didn't take the DC United match seriously at all and were deservedly embarrassed. Also think this is a great confidence builder for players who'be been getting slagged off(Bellamy, Quinn, Bassedas).

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Ok, thx.

Quinn left midfield?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Absent friend??

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Just 3 goals, WB. But I'm sure we'll manage a few more this half. ;-)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

BTW, for those who didn't know Villa got beat 2-0 earler today.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Hee Hee

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Who were they playing?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

It was 2-1, to my knowledge

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

A team from Croatia, don't know who but they're supposed to be about the same calibre of Lokeren.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

How is Bellyman performing?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Sorry guys, SkySports sold me a duffer, Villa lost 2-1. From TeamTalkingBollox...

David Ginola's late strike could not prevent Villa from crashing to a surprise 2-1 defeat at Slaven Belupo in the Intertoto Cup third round. John Gregory's men failed to come to terms with the heat of Koprivnica in the first half and it was only thanks to Peter Enckelman denying Marijo Dodik and Renato Jurcec, that Villa did not go in at half time trailing. At the other end Paul Merson partnered Dion Dublin in attack, but it was defender Alpay who went closest to opening the scoring in the 20th minute, as his close-range header from Lee Hendrie's free-kick crashed against the post. Dublin then squandered a great chance to open the scoring, feebly shooting wide when well placed at the end of the first half. But the home side took the lead on the hour as Pavol Crnac headed past Enckelman from a corner. Villa battled back and Ginola leveled the scores in injury time with a stunning 30-yard effort, but the visitors' joy was short lived as Goran Gersek fired low into the Villa net in the dying seconds. Despite the set-back, Villa will still be favourites to overturn the deficit in the second leg at Villa Park next weekend.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Hey Screacher, regarding your link: have you chopped up his body yet?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Villa lost 2-1 to NK Slaven Belupo (Croatia), Daveeeeeeeeeeed scored for Villa.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Wake up lads, don't let them back into it!!

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Changes? Lua x2 for Bellamy??

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Still pondering Sven Goran's presence. Strange.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

No, Bellamy is doing ok. Bring Lua x2 on for Solano, I've not heard him mentioned for at least 10mins now.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Hi chaps, Are Sunderland getting beat yet?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Solano drifts too much

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

No, bring on whomever is suffering more from burn out first, then consider performance second.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Lua x2 on for Shola

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Lx2 on for Shola.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Sorry Force of habit, i forgo they didn't qualify for Europe this year.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

We need to score to relieve this pressure

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Evening All, (Morning here..) could do with someone in midfield.....

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

McClen on for Bassedas

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Mornin' Eli

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

McClen on for Bassedas now. Sounds like we're settling for our 3 goals. Just hope we don't let Lokeren score.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Hi Eli - where are you ? (I have a fixation with knowing where everybody is)

Just waiting for a certain large computer manufacturers software to shift some data for us.

This is a bit like waiting for a kettle so use the Toon to while away the mins.

Just close your eyes and imagine this is a parallel version of events to wor UEFA Cup final like.

Imagine 25000 geordies in the Nou camp, singing their hearts out. Imagine ITV and Sky having to pay forced homage again. Imagine how pissed Kenn D would be.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Full time 4-0! Second half was crap apart from the goal.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Canny result, tho I think the oppo helped make the score line. Tarra!

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Whew...0-4. Hope we can hang on to win the tie next week! ;-D

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Okay dokey ..... four goals will do just fine!

See youse all next time! (:o)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Still here Ciara! What did I say about Lua?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

5-0 then 4-0 in Belgium. If Celtic can play in The EPL, can we not join the Belgian league every week

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Its the result that matters

Howay the lads

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Don't often take much notice of Metro's chit chat but it's good to hear the suport for Lua x 2 from the lads. It could just be the spark.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Its been emotional.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Ya, REALLY nice to see four goals scored! Great job by Bobby bringing in McLean and Lua2. They need to play competition games.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Job well done lads. I think leading 3-0 at half time made us take our foot off the gas a bit.

Nice to see Quinn and Lua get their 1st goals for the Toon.

Return game at SJP should be a rout!

See ya lata...

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

4 will do fer now, see if there are some more next week. Might be the only chance to see a few lads score now that there is no love fest on the Tyne. ;-)

See Ya

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Sounds like it was a bit special - an overhead kick. The lad was bought as one for the future - its now the future.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Word from Metro that the lads are saying there's great camaraderie in the camp right now. Bench and coaches out to congratulate LuaLua, lads back onto the pitch for a proper warm down, Barton leading the clapping. All is right with the world tonight. :-)

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Wonder if anyone will be able to get the goals online? Be nice to see that.

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Cya layer lads and lasses

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Lua x 2 = Amber x 6 What sort of attendance do we reckon for the second leg?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001

Terrific result, irrespective of the opposition.

Wouldn't it be a fantastic advert for the Toon if the return leg was a complete sell- out - even if the capacity is reduced?

-- Anonymous, July 14, 2001
