Computer Doofus Here, Can the Computer be Set to Remember the Password???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Well, can I have the computer set somehow to remember the password? I have a homebuilt motherboard (not by idiot me, dear geek brother did it) with Windows 98 installed, and I figure there must be an easier way than typing it in every time, you know, like the cookie set we have when we post a question or an answer here.

Thank you for asking Annie.......I was going to ask the same thing. I have not disabled cookies, but still have to type in each time.

As far as I know, no, the computer isn't going to remember it, or it would have given you that option. My suggestion is to make a file and save it there, then you can copy and paste. Although, if you type it enough times, eventually you'll remember it!

Hey Joy, I didn't get those emails last night. I got them this morning. I sent a test email 2 hours ago, and so far it has NOT come back to me yet. Did you get the emails this morning? I don't know whats up, my my email seems to be hours behind. They are supposed to go like instantly. I have been checking the emails every 10 minutes too, last night and this morning.

Posted on another thread too, but I think you're having email problems, Cindy. Maybe your ISP? What a time for that to happen. Geez.

I did get several emails from you this morning. I just gave up and went to bed last night, since I didn't hear from you. I thought maybe they were being delayed since that other one took so long.

A reply I sent this morning came back with a failure to deliver notice. I re-sent the message but don't know if you'll get it.

Update, Cindy. Go to the other site that Jim gave us yesterday, the new one. We can communicate there.

Nope, just checked, nothing. I am going to call the 1-800-who-cares # and see if MSN can fix this. At least you got the emails this morning. I thought you guys had it all under control since I didn't hear from you!

Oh well, life goes on and it's a beautiful day out today! AND, the drawbridge has been raised up and there are alligators in the moat! Give the horses some extra rest and food today, fold up the aluminum foil for another day, and lets all rally round the round table for a feast and some good brew! he he he

I think Joy is right on that.

There is a freeware program out there that I've used in the past and it's pretty cool.

It's called TypeItIn. You can set your password into this little program and then hit a button when you want to retrieve it and it will print it out into the password dialouge box.

You must be running Windows OS to use it, though.

All 32-bit versions of this program will run on Windows 95, 98, NT, ME, or 2000.

TypeItIn 32-bit Free Adware Version (V2.2 1,082KB) <--- free version

TypeItIn 32-bit Professional Shareware Version (797KB)
