Looking for a supplier of screen plates for old hand operated fanning mill-particularly in plates for oats screens.

-- tim storey (tim@30below.com), August 24, 1999 Answers Tim, may I suggest that you obtain a part from a salvage combine known as a sieve. Not a modern adjustable one, but a perforated one of old. My old powered fanning mill has screens made from various window screen coverings. Galvanized hail screen of 1/4 inch might be about right for oats. As I recall oats are a little larger than wheat. There is a combine salvage not far from me, but shipping on a sieve would be quite costly. Still, if you would like, I can try to get you one and ship it.
