These are the type of players we need...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

(The other post was getting lower down the page so i figure i'd get more responses here)

there are plenty of players out there we just have to get over the flash players who quite clearly dont want to play for us. instead sign players who have played / are playing in the E.P.L

Seth Johnson - Derby - £5m Quinton Fortune - MUFC - £2.5m Lee Clarke - Al Fayed FC - £4m Dean Richards - Soton - £6m Jason Euell - CAFC - WHAT A MISS! £4.5m for a 20 goals for last season striker ! Jesper Gronkjaer - CFC £6m - will want out now, pacy LEFT winger Michael Ball - EFC - £4.5m Eiduir Gudjohsen - CFC - £5m David Weatherall - £1.5m - BCFC , good squad player Brett Emerton - £5m - Feyenord Jon Harley - CFC - £4m Jody Morris - CFC - £5m John Terry - CFC - £4m Michael Hughes - Wimbledon - 500k, good squad player, left winger Steve Stone - Villa - £3m Steve Watson - EFC - £3.5m Alan Thompson - Celtic - £2m Chris Sutton - Celtic - £4m Tore Andre Flo - Rangers - £8m wasting his talents up there! Danny Tiato - MCFC - £3.5m David Prutton - NFFC - £3.5m

I'm sure there are other out there but i cant think of any more atm. First of all we need to built a team loaded with SPIRIT! you start that off buy signing geordies, then buy adding players like that listed above who WANT TO PLAY FOOTBALL and will play hard, chase down the ball and be proud to wear the black and white shirt!

Robbie Savage - LCFC - £4m

Robbie Savage? I don't think so. He's one of the most over rated, under talented people ever to kick a ball. Plus he's a class one nob head.

I agree with some of the players mentioned but you've pulled those figures out of thin air...they're way too low for most of the players mentioned!

Savage has just signed a new deal with LCFC anyway

Seth Johnson - Derby - £8m,... possable Quinton Fortune - MUFC - £2.5m Ask LR about him ,,,, Lee Clarke - Al Fayed FC - £5m , (not fore sale and is he better than Speed?) Dean Richards - Soton - £6m (you're joking)Jason Euell - CAFC - WHAT A MISS! £4.5m for a 20 goals for last season striker !(you really are joking) Jesper Gronkjaer - CFC £6m - (IF ONLY)will want out now, pacy LEFT winger Michael Ball - EFC - £4.5m (Apossibility in the £6 m bracket)Eiduir Gudjohsen - CFC - £5m (Again, if only, Chelsea wouldn't sell, he wouldn't want to come anyway.)David Weatherall - £1.5m - BCFC (Please no...) , good squad player .Brett Emerton - £5m -(I know nothing about this Aussie, Is he another Kewell?) Jon Harley - CFC - £4m Jody Morris - CFC - £5m John Terry - CFC - £4m (what's with all the Chelsea players?)Michael Hughes - Wimbledon - 500k, good squad player,(we don't need Squad players.)left winger Steve Stone - Villa - £3m(too many right wingers in the team) Steve Watson - EFC - £3.5m(Too many Right backs ibn the team) Alan Thompson - Celtic - £2m (no thanks)Chris Sutton - Celtic - £4m (Shearer would be chuffed .......not) Tore Andre Flo - Rangers - £8m wasting his talents up there!(I agree, but would they sell?) Danny Tiato - MCFC - £3.5m (Keegan wont sell his best player)David Prutton - NFFC - £3.5m (unproven , a bit risky, did you see him in the last U21 game?)

Nice effort matey, but most of these players would not be released ad if they were are they better than what we have allredy?

Rik,

Emmerton is just like Kewell, but he's not.

He plays on the right, Kewell plays on the left.

I agree about Johnson, he's just the kind of player you need in a black and white shirt and he puts himself about - which is what the team need, bunch of jessies that they are!

Gudjohnsen is a decent c/f and maybe fed up sitting on the bench at Chelsea. He's worth asking about

Not sure about he rest, they are either getting on a bit or wouldn't come to us. The truth is the list of possible transfer targets must be drying up for BR.

We will have to suffer another barren end to the week in terms of new players and wait for more speculation in the sunday papers.

Johnson has a tremendous attitude. On transfer deadline day 98/99 he had the chance of joining Derby and getting huge amounts of dosh straight away (Crewe are notoriously tight-fisted re wages). Crewe were fighting relegation at the time, however, and he said he would rather stay with them until the summer and help them. He played out of his skin for two months and was instrumental in keeping the Trainspotters in Div One before going to Derby in the summer.

I still think he's cr*p though!

Incidentally, if we signed Johnson and Tiatto any chance of getting into Europe via the Fair Play League would be lost at a stroke - Johnson has had 24 yellows and a red in his two seasons at Derby!

Interesting stats, but I've been mentioning him on here for a while. I think that he would give us what we are missing. Can't remember what that was now............ Also I've always rated Michael Hughes.

Ignorance prevents me from commenting on the merits/worth of the individuals mentioned here (It's never stopped you commenting in the past Jonno - Ed) but I will say that I accept the general point that there are players out there, and that good coaching and good team play can enable "ordinary" players to make a contribution way in excess of what you might otherwise accept.

Remember our own dearly beloved Frank Clark? Signed by Brian Clough towards the end of a long and relatively undistinguished career. Were the Forest fans singing from the rooftops about that acquisition? No matter - within 18 months wor Frank picked up a European Cup Winners medal (and it could not have happened to a nicer bloke IMHO)
