Bob's de Bilde

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

That's the headline for the "exclusive" on the back of today's Journal. Reckons he's coming for £500.000, i.e. another Gallagher.

Also lists the targets who have turned us down this summer so far as Jeffers, Petit, Bergkamp, Guardiola, Mendes, Zenden and Robert. That's about one a week.

I'm a bit sceptical, because I reckon Simon Rushworth's waited a long time to use that headline.

You have got to be joking! De Bilde!!!!!! What is the point of him! He is really a crap player and no better than anything in the first team or reserves so why waste the money. It's pathetic.

Nope, not joking. It's there in black and white and so, it appears, will he be.

Having said that, and having just re-read the piece, the biggest joke is that even he may be poached from us, this time by Real Betis.

I hope he is poached. He is just awful. How depressing is this? I just hope that the board and Bobby take full appraisal of the situation and recognise that their failure to invest when we were desperate for players last year (with all the injuries) has cost us now. With a bit of a push last year and cover for the injured players we possibly could have finsihed in Europe and some of this might not have happened. Bobby also needs to recognise he does not have the pulling power he thought he had.

A re-appraisal of the club's transfer policy is clearly needed. It's no good chasing big names players or foreigners because they just won't come to the North East to a struggling team.

If De Bilde comes to Newcastle United , I'm writing to them for a refund on my season tickets.

We should either buy quality players that are better than we have or we should give the youngsters a chance . If it's true then he's spending for spendings sake. I know De Bilde is leaving Shef Wed as their manager wants to thin his squad down to 22, to save on wages, but the lst thing I want is for you and I to be paying this guys wages for the next couple of seasons.

De Bilde?

More than just sould destroying. That would be a worse move than Bellamy.

It's as if the money is burning a hole in Robson's pocket.

The board have got to step in and say

Oye ... Bobby .... NO !.

i think its more the desperate need for a striker. But why De Bilde?

I hope he never comes to Newcastle.EVER.

can he fix it, can he shite!!!!

-- Anonymous, July 13, 2001

Who? Bob or De B? Neither on this performance :-(

If we're signing DeBilde as another Gallacher, why didn't we just KEEP GALLACHER for another season?! From what I saw of DeBilde with Wednesday, he's not completely useless, but I really don't think he's anything more than a younger Gallacher. And I'm not convinced he's got the same work rate as Gallacher. If he does, though, he will be a useful, cheap squad player. We will need the cover during the season.
