Congrats, Tony!

This is the best Leica place on the net....

-- Steve Hoffman (shoffman2@socal.rr.com), July 12, 2001.

Tony:

Congratulations, but more importantly a very big "Thank you!" for administering this site for us. It is indeed the best Leica spot on the net!

-- Jack Flesher (jbflesher@msn.com), July 12, 2001.

Yes, thak you Tony. Amen to this being the best Leica site on the net.

-- matt (mv@ezysurf.co.nz), July 12, 2001.

"Outstanding red team! 'Get you a case of beer for that!"

Thanks for everything Tony, you are doing a great job. Thanks to Philip Greenspun too.

Best Leica info place in the world.

-- Dan Brown (brpatent@swbell.net), July 12, 2001.

This site is okay as far as it goes, but doesn't seem to have much info about such essential Leica accessories as Tilley hats, Mont Blanc pens, or single-malt whiskies.

-- Dave Jenkins (djphoto@vol.com), July 12, 2001.

Thanks for a great site. IMHO this site is a much better alternative to the Leica Lug.

Regards, T. Gallagher

-- Tom Gallagher (tgallagher10@yahoo.com), July 12, 2001.

Top billing on the LHSA links I might add. Tony is too modest.

-- David S Smith (dssmith3@rmci.net), July 12, 2001.

"Tony is too modest." Lest he get the big head, remember the immortal words of somebodyoranotherprobably MarkTwainorOscarWilde: "He has much to be modest about."

-- Bill Mitchell (bmitch@home.com), July 12, 2001.

When and where is the single malt whiskey to be flowing?

-- Dave Doyle (ddoyleis@home.com), July 12, 2001.

Dave:

I'm happy to discuss single malts with you at any time! Do we base the discussion on what we can afford to drink regularly, or what we get to drink once or twice a year, or what we wish we could drink whenever we wanted to? :)))

-- Jack Flesher (jbflesher@msn.com), July 12, 2001.

We should start a category: Leica and the Single Malt!

I remember some time ago the single malt whiskey debate on the LUG. I say, why not??? I myself like a little nip of the good stuff every few minutes or so! :-0 It is very befitting.

-- Tony Rowlett (rowlett@mail.com), July 13, 2001.

Leica & Laphroig, great comgination. Well done Tony!

-- Paul Nelson (clrfarm@comswest.net.au), July 13, 2001.

Dear Tony, thanks for everything: (a) The whole site is unbeatable, unreplaceable; I've looked at all other Leica sites (I think) but yours has replaced them all. (b) Everything I've read here is really neat because so many people have so much knowledge, ditto humour, and always decent manners (c) and finally every time I needed your help I got your reply back the same day! Keep up the big work!!

-- Michael Kastner (kastner@zedat.fu-berlin.de), July 13, 2001.

A million thanks and congratulations!

This is the best photographic site that I have visited.

-- Steven Teh (ptsteh@hotmail.com), July 13, 2001.

Congratulations and thank you, Tony--hope this is the beginning of greater things to come! Like Michael said above, this is a great forum because of the knowledge, humour and good manners of the participants; keep it up folks!

-- Hoyin Lee (leehoyin@hutchcity.com), July 13, 2001.

Thanks Tony for a great site. People here are very helpful, respectful, and take the time to answer questions people at some of the other sites might sneer at. Thanks.

-- Gerald Widen (gerald@sfa1.com), July 13, 2001.

Tony, congratulation for your effort.

It would be even better, if you can talk Philip Greenspun into including Leica Photography into the folds of photo.net--- then we all can have the benifit of SEARCH and picture UPLOAD.

Failing that, you may contact Listquest.com to including in their listserer--- the advantage is full search function.

The lack of search function prompt me to move Minox Photography to Yahoogroups, which is doing quite well over there

As for Tilley, yes, I mentioned Tilley hat in the thread about Vest, I mentioned also Tilly VOMP ( Vest of Many Pockets)

Tilly hat is a great accesory for photographer, it can be use as lens shade, Kepler wrote a full article on Tilley hat in POP.

I kind of feel like a guy that had a great spot on a lake somewhere, and then it is exposed as a great place to be by some media. The next trip to the lake, and you are surrounded by all of the people you went to the lake to escape. I hope some of the less civil people on some of those other sites, just hearing about this site from the LHSA mention, keep their flame wars and personal insults on those other sites.

Congrat's Tony! I feel so lucky to have found this place on the web.

-- Al Smith (smith58@msn.com), July 13, 2001.

I concur on Tilly hats, as a long time Tilly hat wearer, I agree they are the best photographer's hat going. Mont Blanc pens, on the other hand, suffer when compared to Sharpies for photographic purposes. And with Old No. 7 readily available, who needs single malt scotch?

-- Dan Brown (brpatent@swbell.net), July 13, 2001.

Thanks everyone, I learn new things everyday. The most friendly place to talk about Leica and Photography. The only non-snobby site about Leica(to me). Fred Ouyang

-- Fred Ouyang (yo54@columbia.edu), July 13, 2001.

Tony; a lot to thank you; simply the best place with the best people in the net; I just can´t imagine how much work is needed to run this place, what I´m sure is that you do it with a great atitude, as Andre Kertez used to say "Atitude is a choice"; congratulations!!

-- r watson (al1231234@HOTMAIL.COM), July 13, 2001.

I came across this site about a couple of months ago and love it. It has enough people contributing to make it extremely useful. Well done Tony ....err whoever you are?

-- Richard (richard@designblue.co.uk), July 13, 2001.

Dear Tony-

Your initiative and efforts are very much appreciated. Thank you.

very sincerely,

-- jeff voorhees (debontekou@yahoo.com), July 13, 2001.

Good news for everybody here but specially for you, Tony. Heartful thanks and congratulations to you and I'd say lets congratulate ourselves all for being able to keep a human environment that so many of us think is the proper one for such a site. Our friend r watson said it right: attitude is an option. Lets opt for this one. Cheers !!! Have fun

- Iván

-- Ivan Barrientos M (ingenieria@simltda.tie.cl), July 13, 2001.

Thanks Tony; congratulations to you and all of the regulars out there. It is a real fun to visit your site from time to time "because of the knowledge, humour and good manners of the participants" as Hoyin Lee summarised above. I doubt I would like to spend an evening with most of you discussing about Leica issues :-) for longer than 20 minutes, but it is good to know you are all there!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again.

-- George (gdgianni@aol.com), July 13, 2001.

Thank you Tony for this wonderful site and congratulations on making the Big Time.

Cheers,

-- John Collier (jbcollier@powersurfr.com), July 13, 2001.

Congrats to all gentlemen here.

-- kenny chiu (amchiu@worldnet.att.net), July 13, 2001.

Nice job, Tony. :-)

-- Michael Darnton (mdarnton@hotmail.com), July 13, 2001.

I am very new on WWW, but since the dawn of I entered this forum I understood that this is the greatest Leica forum. Thanks to Tony and to all participants.

-- Dimitris Kioseoglou (kosefoto@otenet.gr), July 13, 2001.

Tony, Thanks for all your efforts in making this such an extraordinary site!!! It's easily my favorite of all photography sites. Thanks to everyone else who contributes here as well! Ken

-- KL Prager (www.pragerproperties@att.net), July 13, 2001.

Dear Ivan, Kertez said that I just repeat it here; by the way I want to thank Al Smith for intoducing me to this forum, and my most sinceres apologies to who ever I offend here, it wasn´t ever my intention.

-- r watson (al1231234@hotmail.com), July 13, 2001.

I'll join with the others, in saying congrats. Even though I'm very new here (just found the list very recently), I'm definitely hooked. A much more pleasant tone than at some other places I've found on the web.

Plus, it's easy for me to access it both at home and at work.

-- Eric Platt (ericplatt@aol.com), July 13, 2001.

Good Day All, Congrats to this forum!. I am brand new to it and am loving it. I just got the link from Bob Todrick. I also just sent in my M6 w/35 Summicron after a nasty drop onto the pavement and had the rangefinder go a bit haywire. So, no sooner do I get the link to this forum which really makes me want my Leica back in my hands and its gone for a couple of weeks at the "Kinderman spa".

Keep up the good work Tony! Colin Orthner

-- Collin Orthner (corthner@home.com), July 14, 2001.

Congrats, Tony, and to all the participants that make it what it is.

So, Tony, what's the reward going to be for submission of message #10,000? A free lifetime subscription to this site? A free lesson on embedded links? How about a CD-burn of "the best LUG flames of the past decade"? Throw in a good single malt and a good Havana.

On to the next 9,000!!! And thanks for your devotion to the past 9,000.

-- Ken Shipman (kennyshipman@aol.com), July 14, 2001.

Keep up the good work Tony, and all contributors.

Ron

-- Ron Gregorio (rongregorio@hotmail.com), July 15, 2001.

Many lusenet groups are plagued by fake email addresses. Sooner or later this may shows up on this forum as well, just a matter of time. Imposters are ready imvade this forum.
