Doctors vs. Guns (letter to the editor)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

(Friend of mine gave this to me this morning - it's a letter to the editor of the Rock River Times, Rockford, IL don't know what date.)

"Dear Editor, Here are the statistics for doctors versus guns.

Number of physicians in the U.S.: 700,000. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year: 120,000. Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171 (U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services)

Number of gun owners in the U.S.: 80,000,000. Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups): 1,500. Accidental deaths per gun owner: 0.0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but (most) everyone has at least one doctor.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand."

Have to admit - it struck me as so funny, I had to send it out... I tried to not send it to anybody here, but forgive if I missed you on the list, lol!
