Ridsdale a face ache?

Chairman Peter Ridsdale has spoken out to calm the fans that are worried that the club have not as yet bought in any new players.

Ridsdale explained that Leeds will only buy players that will add quality to the squad and who are able to break into the first team. To that end Leeds will not buy for buying sake and, as was shown last season with the patient wait to sign Rio Ferdinand, they will wait to get the men that they want.

Manager David O'Leary has given the chairman a list of two players that he would like and he will do his best to get them, as he said: "I think we have a squad as good as anybody's in the Premiership and of course we will add to it as and when those players that David O'Leary says he would like to bring in become available.

"I think we have demonstrated both in the transfer market and with securing the existing players that we can compete with anybody now in keeping and attracting the players that we want.

"I don't want to be disrespectful to players who have been at the club in previous seasons but we have moved on. Two or three years ago we were buying players who today would not get in the team. They did a job for us and now have been allowed to move on.

"We are at a level today, when you look at the quality of the squad full of international players, where somebody has to be something special if we are going to go out and bring them in. If they are not special and they do not get in the team then it is a waste of money.

"To take the team to the next stage it is only worth spending the money if we are going to add something extra to the high quality we already have."

Untrustworthy.

Still thinks he's got desires on Dyer - but will not want to cough up wagesfor an injured player

Those comments 'that player will soon be available we think' are directed towards our young Kieron who will no doubt desert us for Leeds in October.
