Korma-blimey! AN Indian restaurant is currying favour with football fans with a new range of dishes named after their heroes. From this week, diners at the Stockport County's players' favourite restaurant, the Bengal Dynasty, will be able to feast on Danny Dhansak, Kilner Keema Karahi or Biryani Brendan, to name but three of the 10 County-inspired treats on offer. Abdul, chef at the restaurant in Offerton shopping precinct, has come up with his new 'County Classics' menu as players are gearing up for the season which starts next month. He is a great County fan and has a picture of his favourite match - the Coca Cola Cup semi final against Middlesbrough a few years ago - on the restaurant wall. He said: "Steve Bellis, the marketing manager of Stockport County came in and saw it, then he told us who he was. "He was so impressed with the grub he had here that the next time he came, he brought a couple of players with him. "I was so pleased, my hands were shaking with excitment - not a good idea when you're cooking with red hot curry powder. "Since then lots of the players have been in and I wanted to do something for them to say thank you. "We have launched the new County menu this week and we hope County fans and players will come along to enjoy it. Steve Bellis was delighted. He said: "We are not the sort of football club to curry favour, but we are obviously delighted that the Bengal Dynasty has chosen to honour us by naming many of their most popular dishes after our players." Danny Dhansak is a fiery chicken dish created for former County boss, Danny Bergara; Kilner Keema Karahi is a sizzling meat dish named after current manager Andy Kilner, while Biryani Brendan is a "truly excellent rice dish created for a truly excellent chairman - Brendan Elwood." Karahi Harry Hardy is a sizzling lamb dish in memory of Cunty's only ever England international, Harry Hardy; Shefki Shgashlik is a powerful sizzling lamb dish for new Edgeley Park hero Shefki Kuqi, and Porteous Pathia is a hot and spicy prawn dish in memory of Mr Stockport County Trevor Porteous. For those who like a tipple with their tikka, Toddy Tikka named after County hero Lee Todd comes complete with a pint. And Balti Bhuna Bellis is a "very creative hot and sweet dish for our very own County regular, Steve Bellis" marketing manager and curry fan extraordinaire who has introduced successive sets of County players to the Bengal Dynasty. For something gentler go for Big Kev Korma named after gentle giant, County legend Kevin Francis.
