I stopped by the earth science department yesterday and looked at some of the print outs from the earth-monitoring stations around Ohio. One of the profs, who was taking a coffee break, said that this is the most activity that he's seen within a month since the end of the 1980s.

I asked him for an opinion on whether the New Madrid was possibly going to cut loose soon. He said that he wasn't "an alarmist" (his words) but it was entirely possible that we might experience some movement. I pushed him for some numbers, which he was uncomfortable giving, but he didn't think that a 4-5 was out of the question. He stressed, though, that Central Ohio was fairly stable and that we faced bigger dangers from tornados and severe lightning storms than from killer earthquakes. He believed that any damage in Ohio from a New Madrid quake would be more pronounced in the Cincinnati area. He also didn't rule out the possiblity of there being some minor damage around Ashtablula (sp?) if there is an event in Lake Erie. Again, he didn't want to predict dates or numbers, so I didn't push him further. I had been cheerful and looking forward to my meetings, this was just out of the blue.

this is the "so called" predictions of Hugh Courtney... a gentleman that sets up calendars for those of us that follow biodynamics... course, some of this is common sense with the snow and rains we have been having...

Hugh's thoughts on weather.... interesting...

A Look at the Weather at the End of 2000 and Into 2001

It still appears probable that we will see a continuation of the drying impulse which will last at least into July, and more likely through September of 2001 before any amelioration can be expected. It is also likely that the winter of 2000/2001 will have a tendency to be considerably colder than recent years. Because I have now been able to identify the fact that the last seven months of the year 2001 will be afflicted with a significant number of occultations involving the traditional planets of the solar system, especially Saturn (total of eight) and Jupiter (total of four), I would interpret the effect of these unsettling influences as making the last half of the year 2001 a very difficult time for agriculture. While we should experience a relatively beneficial period in general for early planting and sowing, the summer and fall growth and harvest will be heavily impacted by disease and insect damage as well as other difficulties for growing. Get your plants in early and give them plenty of nourishment and support through generous applications of the biodynamic preparations. From mid-June until harvest, be ready to treat crops with plenty of BD#501, #507, and #508. Although the remainder of the resources which I use to look ahead at the weather have not yet arrived, and further elaborations on weather probabilities for the year 2001 may be warranted, I believe the impact of the occultations for this year will be quite noticeable by October.

I know this don't have anything to due specifically with earthquakes... just that the midwest is in for interesting times... Re. the New Madrid, if any of you have links to monitoring that area, I'd be grateful. Last nigt I went looking for those I thought I had bookmarked, and came up empty. Somehow I'll not be surprised if they come in handy fairly soon...

Thanks in advance...

I felt a burning pressure in my temples and ears. It was as if someone were strangling my neck! Squeezing, letting go, squeezing. I asked God to take away my pain so I could rest. Next thing I knew...it was morning.(Thank you God) Woke up with my "guard" up. Still feeling massive ear pressure and hearing rumbling noises. It's like hearing boulders tumbling over one another. Feeling very dizzy and nauseated. I have a feeling we are going to be feeling something in the San Francisco Bay area soon...small...I hope. I'm also feeling Mexico and for sure...more for Washington/ Oregon. I feel something is going to happen between March 3rd and March 6th. Another CNN moment. Maggie MM World's Bestest News Finder! Dave sees things ahead of time about earthquakes. He said the San Francisco area was one that he saw a large earthquake happening. He also mentioned seeing a tunnel in another and I ask him if it could be the tube between Alameda and Oakland. He wasn't sure but, said it might be. I have a lot of relatives living in that area, it's my old stomping grounds.

If you go to the site and look down the page until you come to the line that reads "definetly within a week" by Dream girl, posted at 12:03 am 3-02-01...below that you will see Digital Dave, me and Lynettes converstion about the earthquake and tube.

Thanks for that New Madrid monitoring link. It works fine in IE, but shows only a blank screen in Netscape 4.7, by the way. And don't even ask about NS 6 -- grumble, grumble, bloatware...

That page's authoritative links page has yet more New Madrid-specific info, btw.

And here's an additional seismic sources link in return, in case either of you don't have it.

With all this EQ activity and the sounds of more to come soon, it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on New Madrid fault and for some reason...maybe even NY, along with the West Coast.
