It's off team sqwark so it must crap

mustn't it?

Wages could prove the stumbling block to Bryan Robson's chances of a return to Premiership football with The Magpies. The former Middlesbrough manager has been inevitably linked with the number two job at St James' Park in recent days, with some reports even claiming he will be groomed to take over from United boss Bobby Robson. However a certain Alan Shearer already has his eye on that job - an ambition which has the backing of club chairman Freddy Shepherd. And the feeling within the Newcastle boardroom is that Robson Senior - who enjoyed such a close relationship with his namesake during his time as England manager - would be given a polite refusal if he asked for his former Captain Marvel to join him on Tyneside. Apart from Shearer's likely objections to a high-profile appointment - The Magpies skipper is expected to take the reins at the end of next season and will want to choose his own backroom team - United feel that Robson Jnr is likely to ask for wages way in excess of their budget for the number two position. Of course, Bryan Robson himself may well veto the plan - he has told friends since quitting the Riverside that he will only return to the game if offered a manager's job in the Premiership.

Crikey, a Mackem agreeing with me. I wonder if I can keep it going.

Charlie Hurley was the best CH (no pun intended) the Mackems ever had.

Robson was a decent enough coach working with Terry Venables for England..

i liked his bit on the Pearce docu. about how "i went along with the lads for the dentist chair night just to make sure there was no drinking..." with a straight face too...

dougal,
Bryan R was most probably just a gopher for Venables when the latter was England Manager. Based on what transpired at Boro, it seems highly likely has very limited coaching skills.
I actually respect the bloke, and suspect he could still prove to be a successful Team Manager provided he gets himself a top-class Coach as his No2 next time around.
