plc announcements online

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I remember a post a few weeks ago saying that you can check for plc announcements of news before the press get hold of them. I've looked on this board for the post but given up finding it. As I recall it mentioned Reuters and the FSA but I've looked at both sites to no avail.

Could anyone post some links up that you know about the announcements about NUFC so I have a clue of where to look for ours?

TIA

GM,

I'm not experienced with hypertext links, but I'll have a go for you.
Try this, if it doesn't work I'll just post the URL - SAFC Press Releases

Flushed with nerdy success, I suppose I better post a parallel link to the Toon Press Releases. Watch this one not work!

This just has to be God's way of telling me I have way too much time on my hands!

Clarky - I'm impressed! A sure sign of a mis-spent middle age ;-)

As a matter of interest - I mean it's only been around some 5 or 6 years for most of us, what did people actually do with their lives BI? (Before the Internet).

Presumably I had no friends (because they are all on here now), and I can't imagine what I used to do with my spare time. Perhaps we all got out more....

Naaah...just read alot more books and spent way too much money on outdated foreign papers and magazines to keep up with happenings in the rest of the world. ;-)

Great post Jonno, but I have problems remembering what I was doing five months ago, never mind five years.

5 years ago...at least. Who started off on the Carling boards? Prior to that I don't think I had internet access..so football talk was all with coleagues and mostly involved biting my lip whilst listening to how great Manchester United was. And my main sources for news on nufc were papers..oh yes and team talk of course, via telephone. Quite a few phone calls a day I seem to remember. We are spoilt these days (those outside Newcastle especially) with the amount of info we get. In the 80's it was the odd phone call to my grandfather plus the bits and pieces he sent me from the chronicle if anything 'interesting' happened. National newspapers - you'd be lucky to get a 50 word match report once a week. And any programs you got from live games would be read about 50 times to see if anything new came out through repetition

Yes, we made our own entertainment back then, but at least we were happy.

And you could leave your back door open.

B.I, I used to me a family man with a bit of a life.

Well, I used to have time for a proper job during the day, and watched a lot more telly in the evenings.

When we lived in the US in the 80's, keeping up with NUFC matters was very difficult. Used to wait patiently for the bundles of old newspapers from home. I essentially left the UK because of Bill McGarry, but then missed the Pedro/Waddler/KK promotion season which was very frustrating. Came back 'home in the late 80's - proudly bought 2 ST's for the first time ever - just in time for Willie McFaul to take us back into Div2!
