Ugh. My tummy hurts, for some reason. I feel like I might vomit. Great way to start off the week.

My throat is still hurting. I actually had to call Saturday an early day when I was dress shopping, I felt so ill. I went home and slept for about four hours.

The urge to vomit has diminished, a little bit.

So, Kevin and I broke up Friday night at On The Border. He brought it up, peripherally- he hadn't really said anything the entire drive over or all through dinner, and responded with eyerolling to all my attempts at conversation. But when I just said nothing, got crabby and asked things like "So what else is new?" And I asked if he was cranky because we'd driven out to OTB (though he took side roads, and we got a table in the bar area in about 5 minutes) and he said no, he would have been cranky anywhere.

So then he finally started talking, and said he was stressed about work, and life, and us. And that he didn't see us lasting 3000 miles apart, and didn't feel things were strong enough to justify him moving out there. And I agreed- I said that it felt like we were at square negative two. So that was that. There was more talking and crying in the car, but really, it felt inevitable. He took me home and I slept for like 14 hours.

God - no wonder you feel ill. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Knowing it was inevitable, and that it's the best thing, certainly doesn't make it any less wrenching.

Hannah - I'm so sorry. Did you guys talk about remaining in friendlly contact or anything? Or is it sort of a all or nothing thing?

I think we'll still be friends. But I knew it wasn't working. I'm just very tired.

Maybe this will (and I'm sure yo've heard this) make it easier to get packed up and go west. You won't have to worry about the relationship, etc.

And you did get to eat queso, right?

Very true.

Yes, I did, and they have a new flautas recipe at OTB, and they were excellent.

Do you think it wasn't working because you both knew you were leaving?

-- Anonymous, July 09, 2001

That's a good point.

Possibly. I just threw up. I'm going to go home.

Yes. Go home! Just sleep and watch movies.

And take a long shower. Long showers always help. I hope you feel better. Can Matt and/or Nat give you some nurturing tonight?
