seeking info on horse-drawn narrow gauge lumber linesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Shortline, Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railroading : One Thread |
Interested in details regarding operation of any horsedrawn narrow gauge line used to move Midwest lumber around the turn of the last century. Specific area of interest is northwest Lower Michigan, where Cameron Brothers Lumber ran such an operation at Torch Lake Village from about 1875 to 1905. This mile-long line carried lumber harvested in the lower Chain of Lakes to ships on Grand Traverse Bay (part of Lake Michigan). Please help!
