Does SAFE accept donated cell phones to help victims of domestic violence?

I have a cell phone w/accessories that I would like to donate to an organization that helps victims of domestic violence. Does SAFE have a program that helps victims of domestic violence by giving them a cell phone programmed to dial 911 and/or a supporting friend?

Not currently. I recommend donating it to a local women's shelter. While you're at it, ask if they help all victims of domestic violence, or only straight women.

Why not donate it to a shelter that assists male victims of DV? Of all the groups, they receive the *least* help in terms of services, funding, assistance, etc etc. I have a cell phone to donate, but I would like to see it go to a men's group, if that isn't too horrifically offensive to you.

I think you're flaming the wrong people here.

If you read through our website, you'll see that SAFE is an organization specifically set up for the purpose of helping out ALL victims of domestic violence, and ESPECIALLY underrepresented populations. The reasons I made this statement is because at this point, SAFE isn't set up to give this cell phones out or distribute them. There are no local men's shelters for me to refer people to to donate their cell phones.

Let's not get on either side of a gender war here. If the cell phones will help out someone who can use them, male or female, let's give them to them.
