LIMA, PERU - An earthquake shook the south coast of Peru before dawn on Saturday. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake had a 7.2 magnitude.

The earthquake was located on the south west coast of Peru The epicentre in the Andes was 112 kilometres south of Arequipa, Peru's second largest city, where there are reports of collapsed buildings.

Officials say there are no injuries reported.

The earthquake was the third to hit the area in as many days.

On Friday, a magnitude 5 quake shook the Andean region, while a magnitude 6 quake rumbled through on Thursday.

They're part of a series of large aftershocks that have followed an 8.1 magnitude tremor in June. That quake killed at least 75 people and left tens of thousands homeless.
