greenspun.com : LUSENET : Double H on the T Rocks : One Thread

Hey girls. Phew. So tired. So much drinking and shopping. Damn Harold's and their sale. I got two knee length skirts, three v-neck tee shirts (I wish I had bought more- they were 30% off $19.99 and ridiculously flattering), a scarf, a long belted blue sweater, and a seersucker skort (that you can't tell is a skort, honest, it doesn't even wrap) for- $185. Madness.

The wedding was so much fun. I saw every single one of my old film professors, and talked to my favorite for a while- he's so proud of me. And one of my old sorority sisters was friends with the bride, so I sat at her table for dinner and caught up (she's now divorced already! but owns her own flower shop. I was impressed). And I met two of Sean's classmates out at USC and they were very nice and full of advice. And I saw Tom, my ex-boyfriend who worked at 7-11. He's 28 now, and still works at the same 7-11. Narrow escape there, girls.

The wedding was gorgeous, too. It was outdoors, up the canyon, surrounded by trees and mountains. I overlooked the "Honeymoon Dance" and the decision to have a roaming magician- the view and the food was so fabulous. And the maid of honor's tattoo was showing, so I felt okay about that, too.

Answers

The honeymoon dance? What's that?

Y'all. I don't want to talk about it a lot, as I've been thinking of little else since yesterday afternoon, but wah! Why are people so mean??

http://www.perpetualblonde.com/index2.html

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Where you pay money to the maid of honor/best man to dance with the bride or groom, the $ going to the honeymoon dance.

She didn't write that about you, did she?????

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

uh, yeah. She did. You couldn't tell? Are you on her notify?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

No, I'm not. I thought it might be, but wow. What a fucking bitch. I mean, really, what a fucking bitch.

Sorry about my language, but. I have nothing else to say. Besides- oh, I have a lot to say. I know you said you didn't want to talk about it, but- are you going to respond?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I forwarded you the notify. I'm not sure. On the one hand I don't really want to dignify it. On the other, I don't want her to think it's okay to be that malicious and get away with it.

I've thought about writing a notify and saying This is me, except it's not. And give a very skeletal response.

But see, this is my LIFE and I care a lot more about it than just some stupid online journal community.

At the very least, she could've made her diatribe ACCURATE.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

And I mean, really, what's worse? Writing something so hateful, so spiteful, and putting it out there for the object to read, or falling in love? With someone's EX boyfriend????

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Exactly. A million times exactly.

That's the irony of it. She called me a cruel and evil and hated by thousands, but look at the venom she's able to muster over something she's not even remotely involved in. I guess it's the same way people can truly hate Jerri from Survivor or Amaya from the Real World.

I'm sure it was Anna Beth who told her. I can't imagine who else it would be. And I think even AB's gotta be feeling a bit bad about what she spawned.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I mean, does Keli even KNOW Pam? Does she even know any of the whole story? Did she even ask you about it, first????

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh, I am so pissed off. So, so pissed off. I think the only thing you can do is (I assume the two of you have emailed before, at some point, right?) send her something like "Did you have something you wanted to say to me?"

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

She met her at journalcon. I don't see how. And no. And the rub of it is, had she asked, I probably would've told her as we'd had a good rapport in the past.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh, I'm just so annoyed. Where's T?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

That said, I'm reading Kim and Stee's casting special recap, and found this comment of Stee's inadvertently highly amusing: ""I'm a pretty, pretty princess." And she wonders why girls hate her? How can you be that fucking stupid? Seriously. I hope she falls out of the Winnie and dies. I'm going to have to program the word "ho" into my F3 button."

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I know. I loved that.

I'm going to email y'all my response that I'm thinking of sending as a notify.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I don't think you should respond through your notify. Email her directly- it shows a little more class than she did.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Okay. My fear is that she'll post it. And I'll have to fix it up a bit, I guess.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Well, that would say more about her than you.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Okay, I just changed all the "she" and "authors" to "you". And I'm letting Eric read it first.

The thing that makes me so mad, and this is what Sara said, is that she's clearly doing this as a pamophile, but this would piss pam off too! If pam wanted this online, if she wanted me to be "hated by thousands" she could've made that happen months and months ago. Where does Keli get off being some random third party putting it out there.

You have to let me know if this comes up in chat.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I will. I am tempted to post to the 3WA "I can't read your journal because" thread: "I can't read your journal anymore because you wrote an uninformed diatribe that showed you to be petty, hurtful and angered by something that really isn't your business anyway."

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Hee.

Okay, I sent it. Now we wait.

I hope AB is proud of herself. The thing that burns me is that these people have CHILDREN. Shouldn't they know better? Good lord.

Perhaps T is still in Fla?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

She just turned up on IM.

Teri, on an off-topic subject, I had a moment this weekend when I really wished I had a portable Emily Post. I was at the Basket Loft and fell in love with this Crane stationery- a simple note card with a navy embossed letter in the top corner. And navy-lined envelopes. And I couldn't remember if I should get my first or last initial. The saleslady and I decided on an M after 20 minutes of discussion.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I'm here.

You can go with your first or last initial, actually. I do wish they had a Palm edition of Emily Post, though.

I can't believe Keli. I'm not clear how many people in the online world know that it's you, though. Could you forward me her notify?

I'm glad Utah was fabulous.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

oh, I thought you were on it.

I don't think anyone besides people who already know will recognize it as me. I mean, how could you? Some people might recognize pam, but. . .

And it's not like she's HUGE or anything, you know? If it comes out anywhere, it'll probably be discussed in 3wa chat.

I'll forward you the notify after lunch.

Did you read my response?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I forwarded the notify. I can't believe she actually said she hates you in that. And- did you ever actually stay with Pam??

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

And what did Eric say about all this??

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

And in case you're tired of talking about all this...

I just signed up for WW online today. Go me. Tom actually said that my weight gain was the first thing he noticed. Jackass. (Of course, he then said that I had been scarily underweight in college and he thought I looked much better with curves, but he just wanted me to go back to his apt. and make out.)

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

So it was a backhanded compliment?

Eric's pissed. He was the one who encouraged me to respond. It's just all so ridiculous.

I mean, hate is a pretty strong word.

How does WW online work?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I guess. I don't know, he seemed pretty pleased with how I looked, and amazed that I found him (it was a whim, I didn't really think he'd still be there, or that they would hand over his phone number). Anyway.

I wonder what Pam thinks. If I were her, I'd email Keli and ask her to take it down.

You never answered my question about staying with Pam.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh. No, I didn't. I stayed in a damn hotel because I was there for work. And AB knew that, so I don't know what the hell she told Keli.

I doubt pam has seen it.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Does Tom have a name on nakedsometimes? He's not Sevs Guy is he?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Yep, the Sev Guy.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

It's so odd. And mean. I want to post something, but only because my site is no longer public domain.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Sara wrote a really great guest entry. It's about masks and how no one is real and you can't know them by the mask they show you and it's full of Shakespearian goodness. I'm posting it tonight.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

This is interesting, too.

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=005cVl

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh blah. I wish people would just let it go.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Yeah. They are STILL talking about it on chat. I mean, is it me, or is it pathetic to be that worked up over it?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

The Dave Van comments? Or just about pam quitting?

I think it's a little pathetic to still be worked up about it. Just let it go.

T - where did you go?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh, it's pathetic.

Has anyone on the internet said anything about Keli's entry?

I really do want tos ay something. Maybe how people who bitch about how bored they are on their summer vacations should at least take a moment to check their facts before they rant about how much they hate someone they've enver even met.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Also, where did Sara Astruc go? Her journal, I mean.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Sara took it down. She's dating someone new and doesn't want to live that online, really.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

And I don't think Keli has quite the readership to make this too much of a big deal. I could be wrong.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Keli doesn't have the readership, but she obviously has the vicious streak. Hopefully she's stay true to her word and not say anything more. But she does strike me as someone who needs to have control all the time.

T - is she on your notify?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Are you going to say anything to Anna Beth? Has she said anything to you?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

No and no. My AB M.O. is just to kill her with kindness.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

You've got to know she's waiting for you to. Don't you think? I can't believe she thinks this is okay.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I don't know. Maybe she thinks I deserve it. Who knows. She's a little devil.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

What are they saying on chat?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh, the usual. I still can't believe Pam's gone, my life is over, etc. Sara mentioned she didn't advertise her quitting because she didn't want people downloading things and putting them on CD.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

That makes sense, re Sara Astruc. Is she dating the guy who she wrote about - the one with the calling card?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Matt from Fandango.net. And yes, I think that was him. They're on chat all the time, very sweet.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh - she's on my notify.

I want to say something. Like, "hey, Keli - I didn't realize that you and Pam were so close!"

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I never really read Astruc. Did she meet the guy on 3wa?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I'm not sure. I think VodkaTea, of all places.

Heh.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Well, I wouldn't bait her.

Her venom speaks for itself, I think.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Are people all weeping because she's gone too?

I just loved how Keli said that once I "snared" Eric I was able to love myself again. How do you even gather that? I mean, hello?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Yeah.

A lot of that seems to have come out of her ass, basically. Or AB told her that was the situation, which wouldn't surprise me.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

But like that would be a topic of conversation. About how I make myself feel better about myself by bedding men. What the fuck ever.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Why does she think you make it a habit of chasing other girls' boyfriends? That's what's so odd to me. She talks like you have a chronic problem.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Exactly. She makes it seem like she KNOWS all the reasons behind this and whatnot.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

She made it up. It makes for a juicier character. It's a little pyscho actually. It's the whole thing with her thinking she knows me somehow. Like - "Oh, I know her type."

Uh, no, you don't.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

See, I'm thinking she had to have been in Pam's situation at one point, and that's where most of this is coming from. Or she's a truly unbalanced fan.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I'm going with the former.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Stupid WW online isn't letting me sign up. It keeps crashing.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I went to their site once. It's sooooo slow.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

No, I totally agree that she probably was in a similar situation and that's where it all came from. But it still takes a certain kind of person to be that cruel.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh, I posted something about it on Gwen's forum (minus names and all)- the password there is grassskirt, if you want to see it and the one answer so far.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Good question, and good response from Robyn.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Yep. I don't know if Keli reads that forum still or not, but figured a private forum was the best place to bring it up regardless.

My boss isn't here today so I can go home and watch the RW premier I missed Tuesday night!

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Not right now, but at 5. Why isn't it 5 now?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I missed it too! We watched the last 5 mins. What time is it on again?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

6 PM and 11:30 PM.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Now, why is Gwen's forum private?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Because she got these trolls that kept posting about her husband leaving her and her being fat, etc.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I think it's a combination of her divorce (can't have her husband's lawyers posting/reading things) and the fact that she was persistantly trolled.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Y'all, I have a huge crush on Amanda Hesser. She's the NYT food writer. She's, like, 32, and she's just so cool.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Also, I'm completely in love with Bumble & bumble leave-in conditioner. My hair is silky again. Fabulous.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

How long ago did she password it?

I've seriously probably only read 2 of her entries. Why are people mean? Lord.

You know, I'm really surprised none of the MATHletes have said anything. Maybe they don't read her. (Besides, AB, clearly.)

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

It was ages ago. Christmas time, I think.

Yeah, I'm surprised, too. You'd think Mike would.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I think Mike realized I'd never really consider him a friend, and so we have a pretty superficial relationship now.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Ah, true.

Is Amanda Hesser the one who wrote about Julia Child recently? I love whoever that is.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Dinner tonight. I'm thinking about making a little bowl of queso with velveeta- it's divine when you add the sour cream. I've got to get my queso in while I still can.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Isn't velveeta queso the BEST?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Cream cheese, I meant. Divine.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

H - did you click to get notified when people respond?

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Yes - Amanda Hesser is the one who's been writing about Julia. I love her. She has a book that was published a year or so ago - I think I need to buy it tonight. She also writes the Wednesday food column for the Times.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh, no, I never do that. It annoys me.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I bet that if you added sour cream and cream cheese, it would be extra good.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Ooh, I bet it would too. Mmm.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Oh, cream cheese, beans and salsa? SO yum.

Man, I wish Keli would write me back, but I'm not counting on it. She probably doesn't even know where the high road IS.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

My favorite cream cheese dish remains cream cheese, pickapeppa sauce, and triscuits. So, so good.

I'm dying to try something with creme fraiche, though. I don't know where I'd find it, though. Harry's, I guess.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

In Amanda Hesser's first food diary entry, she wrote about making toasted pumpernickel topped with horseradish creme fraiche and smoked salmon. That just sounds so good. I must make that soon.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I don't think we have pickapeppa sauce in Boston either. This town kind of sucks like that.

I read that- it was for a date, right? mmmm.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

It was for the first meal she cooked for Mr. Latte, yes.

I wish *she* had an online journal.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Maybe we could write her. Or ask her to cook for us.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

You guys always lose me with teh food talk.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Joh, I'll send you links - you'll fall in love with Amanda Hesser, too.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

She's not just all foodie. She's fun. Honest.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

I'm going home soon. Thank goodness! Yeah, Real World!!

You know, I was really upset yesterday about all that garbage, but now? It truly doesn't bother me. I could care less. I wonder why? Maybe because I wrote her?

She is fun. I'd love to get drunk on a good Poilly-Fusse with her and talk about cooking.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

Probably because a)you don't know her that well and b)what she wrote was, in my eyes, far more damning of her than of you. You know?

I'm taking off now too. 2 day weeks rule.

-- Anonymous, July 05, 2001

True, and true.

I'm off now too. Happy Thursday
