So thats it then?

A new season is virtually underway and we have two signings. Robbie Elliot and Craig Bellamy. Is that it then? The Wadsworth saga saved Bobby the opportunity to explain this dangerous situation. Small mercy? I love Bobby so i only hope these two players do the biz. If not, it's going to get very, very sticky. They have obviously tried, but its not been enough, and i'm sure this hasn't been brought up, but has the Intertoto actually helped to PUT OFF potential signings? Why work harder?

I think Kegsy was right, we've signed no-one of note.

oh, btw, Bellamy hardly trained...he has an achilles problem. Hola the new season.

then?

I would be very disappointed if I am proven right and that is it, but I have heard positive things recently. I think that the club had hoped to sign more players and I think more will/have been signed. We haven't held a press conference with the new signings yet. Bellamy said that we would be signing other players (he would have been told when he signed). I also think that a left midfielder will be signed. Bellamy was not signed as a result of the Zenden deal going pear shaped, the two were due to sign at the same time (I believe). So we can expect/hope/pray/dream that we sign a left footed midfielder at least.

I still wouldn't rule Zenden out. He hasn't signed for another team yet AND the season has just finished here so perhaps he'l commit when he returns? If not god i hope someone else arrives!

Two things that keep me hoping. July 7th and the fact that there has been no official annnouncement regarding Bellamy and Elliot. The lack of a press conference to unveil these two makes be wonder/hope there is something else to come and the club are waiting to make the big splash.

Something in this or am I just the eternal optimist?!

Read that Zenden is now choosing between Lyon and Newcastle. If that's the case I think we should have a decent chance to sign him. Go Bobby!

I read last night that the training was somewhere in Longbenton, are these open facilities, can the public watch?

Tony, with the injuries we've got already, I would imagine that YBR would be happy for the public to join in, never mind just watch.

Swift, usually I am full of excitement and anticipation about the new season - this time I just have a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. I don`t mind if we have a team full of youngsters who work hard, fight hard and we finish mid tableish again, that`s not what worries me. It`s the `Bobby furious` and `Coach leaves on the day training starts` type of thing that bothers me. There always seems to be a spanner of some sort being thrown in the works.(:o|

Darsley Park, the site of proposed Academy is in Longbenton. It is not heavily used, so that could be the temporary location.
Teamtalk has also mentioned the British Gas facility, called Blue Flames, which is virtually next door to Darsley Park.
If the latter is to be used, I sincerely hope it is very short term as the facilities are basic - my son played there recently in a NE Schools Cup Final - and frankly are nowhere near as good as at The Riverside (CLS).

I think that may be a condition that we doctors refer to as BBS-itis. Perhaps the BBS should be divided into 2 boards, one for the doom- mongers and one for the rest of us (who are unable to face reality!). On this second one we could discuss nice things like the latest episode of the Archers and how Frank Clark knew my father.
