Update an old OK map near Hutchinson?

It might be fun to update the old OK map of Sandhills State Park (near Hutchinson). More info is on my July 3 blog entry:

OK did host a meet on that map one time. It was fun, but quite a drive to get to. There are a lot of other sandhills areas in western Kansas that might be public land too. It might be worth someone investigating those. In Manitoba they have sandhills that are mostly grass with some clumps of trees. I remember Sand Hill S.P. as having less desireable vegetation.

I guess that with OK's plans to host a spring B-meet at the Leavenworth map, and with the realization that the Leavenworth map needs some updates, OK's mapping efforts would probably concentrate on that first of all. I think Spike was entertaining the idea of doing the Leavenworth fieldchecking.

Yes the vegetation was predominantly rough - high knee lifts to get through a lot of the area. Spike's lead on the new trail map looks promising though - probably new trails made for bikers. Maybe I'll take another vacation day to go done there and run the trails. Hutch with the Cosmosphere makes a good mini-vacation destination. Right next door is the famous Prairie Dunes golf course.

I remember people getting ticks at the event - Donna Gorton picked off 33 of them. We had one orienteer form out-of-state, too.
