Loony's PC - techie's tune in

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Teknikell help an' that rekwir'ad Well, not having all that internet stuff at work anymore 'av had to resort to hiding Loony's PC from the "call that a PC?" police. There was a somewhat furtive smile as he handed it over before hiding in South America, which is just aswell. Bit like a kid handing in homeowrk that looks nowt like it should. Anyway, I was just glad to able to contact the world again. Three weeks later, I've got the thing running (with late nights hundled round me' mobile with the help desk) but STILL cannot get into my hotmail account.....has anybody got any idea what the F**k I've got to do next? (If you are lurking Seymour, take yer time so I can calm down!!;-) SSL's ticked....

Thanks in advance TM. (even the Help desks have given up)

Hi TM - good to hear from you again.

What's the problem exactly? Obviously you can access the internet so have you gone to the msn.com website and typed in your hotmail username and password?

Enjoy the cookies.

Bloody hell, TM! I thought you were dead! ;-)

You might need a glass of milk with the cookies...

Ok, if you put the hammer down and tell what exactly is happening with your login to hotmail, I'll give you my uneducated opinions :-)

Glad to hear you're still about, mate :-)

Apolgies if you've tried this but ...

In IE go to tools, internet options, security and set it to "medium"

thanks for the Welcome Bobster, basically what happens is that when I try to log in to Hotmail I can get to type name and password but won't go from there. It fails to 'this page cannot be displayed' error message. I tried to set up a new account for what is was worth and that failed to....

Anything else you need to know? Oh and yes, Mac, it's on Medium.

TM, hi there mate.

How long is it since you accessed your hotmail account, several months or more? The reason I ask is that hotmail accounts, if left dormant for an extended period of time, will expire.

Having said that, opening a new hotmail a/c is 'normally' a piece of p!$$, assuming that you're using a brand new sign in name!

Seymour, Sue is after yer blood man, after all she can't email her mother....

Bud cheers for replying, no it's only been a few weeks, trouble is I get around 10 junk mails a day, it's gonna be huge!

Tynedale - btw in case you didn't hear, I'm moving up near your neck of the woods :-)

I would hazard a guess that it's a problem with your ISP. Have you been able to access other online mail accounts with the same provider?

Or, it could be a local problem with Hotmail causing it to time out. Yeah, I know...about as much use as a chimp in a surgery :-)

Thanks Bobby, yep I reckon (having spent most of the day on it) that you could be right about the latter. I hear you've moved to Wark isn't (pron by locals lovingly as waaaaaaaaark man) used to have a top football team did Wark - Northumberland senior cup finalists me'thinks. Anyway, miles from neewhere and beautiful with it, what are you doing there? Work I mean?

Sorry I cannot offer any help TM, my speciality is LMTH

Going to Wark Monday. Yet to be gainfully employed by anyone at the moment so will shortly be staying with me mam down here until I get a position.

Wark has also provided the U-17 keeper for NUFC too, although I hear he's injured at present. I might be brought out of retirement for some sport soon - they have a very nice cricket square.
