We've signed nobody of any real note yet and if it doesn't change before the kick off, will we regret having such a difficult first few games ?

An easier start might give the squad a bit of time to settle and to give Shearer and Dyer a chance to get some games in before we (might)start having to scrap for points.

Or will we be better off getting these difficult games out of the way, regardless of where we are at the end of them cos there's enough of the season left to catch up if necessary ?

I can't make my mind up. Any offers ?

Am perplexed.

i have a horrid feeling Dyer won't be with us much longer bill, i'm pretty sure thats where the clubs apparent cash+desire for a BIG name stems from. And i'm getting more convinced that Bob sees Bellamy as his replacement.

I REALLY hope you are wrong Swift

What is happening ??? Usually in the close season I am extremely (if a bit unrealistically) optimistic. Bolstered by the thought of the new signings fitting in well, thinking our bad luck with injuries cannot continue. It usually takes until at least October for the bubble to burst for me. That's why I am terrified for this season. Nothing has happened to provoke my usual bravado.......And the opening games will be tough enough without Dyer and Shearer but I really thought we'd have signed someone I could get enthusiastic about !!!

Maybe I just need to get out more

Things will change after we win the Inter Toto cup , The better quality players that w've been linked with will look at Newcastle in a different light. I can see Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Zenden and Zidane all clamouring to join NUFC in August.

I'm hanging on your every word Rik. Just what the doctor ordered.

Knowing the Inter Toto results in advance, will you still go to the games ? :-))
