I don't know what things JJ was cited for in getting the award, but I bet most people have no idea how much behind-the-scenes work he has done for the 1000 Day each year. Sure, maybe the 1000 Day has never made it very far into the OK conscious, but for lots of westerners, it's often been the one thing they could look forward to in the region. Without JJ's help, I'm not sure any of it would ever have happened.

Thanks. Although I may be the youngest right now (I'll be 40 in the fall), Jon Nash was a few months shy of his 38th birthday when he was honored in 1993. And Peter Gagarin, Robin Shannonhouse, and Swampfox were all very close, at 41 (O-age) when they got it. (Having never met Cindy Fuller or Joannie Gunther, I have no idea how old they were (and am too polite to ask).
