Ticket renewals - from the horse's mouth

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just talking to a lad I know who is very close to the club and he says that 18,000 people failed to renew by the first deadline. Obviously some will have renewed afterwards BUT it doesn't sound too good, does it? He is normally reliable on stuff like this...

A shock to the system like this may have beneficial effects overall, dougal.
S&H simply have to understand that the "KK afterglow" is now well & truly extinguished, and for the very first time they need to consider how to earn our support.

Time for the 25000 or more on the waiting list(sic) to come in then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hmmmmmm not as loyal as you thought then. I believe i have pointed this out before. And yes before you start you are sooooooooo much bigger than us and your ground is sooooooooooooooo much better and you have soooooo much more ambition. Blah blah blah blah

Funny how you never answer anyone when they are talking to YOU isn't it Sewpah?

I am not surprised by what would be a catastrophic fall in support and revenue. Supporters wanted to be entertained, and as we saw in the past, even more than winning. The club has failed to deliver on both accounts since Keegan left. It was clear to everyone that the current team needed strengthening and the signings to date have been unconvincing. Let's hope two or three additional ones will help turn the tide.

I've renewed my ticket, and i would still have done knowing about B*****y. It's the team i support, not players.

I doubt the final non renewal figure will be any more than 5,000....i've not renewed simply because I struggled to make it to 5 home games last season and I was paying for 2 season tickets....it makes more sense for me to pay on the day.....i'll even be afford tickets in the sports bar or something ;))

Unbelievable we've sold 37,000,000 season tickets. Is that a samll amount? No. It's more than the previous capacity. I'd be surprised if we didn't sell another 3,000 on top of that plus 5,000 on match days. That's still 45,000 people at Every Game.

I think there were roughly 43000 last season which means there were only 25000 this. I'd be very surprised if that's true.

I had often wondered aloud whether huge capacity grounds would eventually change how people bought tickets. If you know there is a 90% chance you can buy on a per game basis then you're going to do that. Ben and I miss at least one game at Xmas, and probably one or two more during the season. I've always coped with this by either giving to my dad or selling on to someone else. If there was no easy resale value those three games would cost me about £70 per season, which is a lot to think about.

I need to have a season ticket as it makes me continue to attend. If I didn't have a ticket then the thought of the journey just to watch dross would have been too much towards the end of last year.

Kegsy I really doubt we've sold 37 million season tickets, even Man U have less than that

A better balance between season tickets and pay-on-the day might be a blessing in disguise and improve the atmosphere. Not convinced it would actually lead to lower gates, it would just mean that the season ticket swapping would lessen and availibility for spare tickets would be more accessible - which I suppose in theory might mean more ticket revenue, albeit less security of future revenues. Jeez I'm positive ;-)

My mate works for the Post Office and he knows about post. He said three thousand short of the max number. I said: "Never! after that shower of shite last year", he said: "I'm telling you".

He knows about post.

I've renewed mine, although whether I'm ever going to receive the damn thing is another matter.

And what's all this crap calling Bellamy "B*****y"? For God's sake give the lad a chance.

Well my mate (the bond holder) gave in and renewed on the day of the second deadline ! Any official figures yet ?

-- Anonymous, June 28, 2001

38,280 renewals, 5,134 less than last season. There are 839 on the waiting list.
