Removing White-Ring Stains on Furniture Mix non-gel toothpaste and baking soda together and rub gently on the stain. Let mixture sit until the white marks disappear. Rewax the area. Do not use on raw or lacquered wood.

also, don't know why, but ashes from cigerrettes seem to work, also!!!! go figure!
