Saving Pictures In Microsoft Internet Explorer

We were recently asked why you can't just save a picture from Microsoft Internet Explorer in any format you choose. Here's how it works: If you right-click a picture and choose Save Picture As, you usually have two format choices -- the original picture format or BMP. So, if the picture at the Web site was originally saved in GIF, then your choices are GIF and BMP. If the original format is BMP, then BMP is your only choice.
