Let me guess. You want to harass Old Git the way you've harassed Diane Squire.

Diane J. Squire.

-- Recent (on@line.harassment), June 26, 2001.

Much more likely OlShit is now harrassing Mr. Tobler.

HINT #1: Andy Rowland gave her the name "old git";

HINT #2: Several threads entitled, "who are we?" (and their many variations) reveal most facts about the doomer regulars from Stinkbomb2000.

Knock yourself out.

Mr Tobler,

Get a hobby. Model railroading is fun, so is painting. Lot of folks enjoy gardening too, you may want to try that one, I understand it's very "British".

"Does anyone know what Old Gits name is? Her real name?"

Yes. Of course. Unless she's forgotten it.

Lady Logic asked that very question, "Mark". Back when she was threatening her.

I do

-- (me@home.now), June 26, 2001.

Back when she was threatening her.

Who was threatening who? I can picture it either way.

Old Git's real name is Margaret Thatcher. And now you know the Rest of the Story.

-- (anotherbrick@the.wall), June 26, 2001.

I know the name, home phone, street address and the names of the pets.

I think it is not proper to provide this information. Of course, the sysops on tb2k thought it was ok. But I suppose they aren't talking to you.

Oldtimer

I know, but I won't tell. BTW, here's Unc's biography:

Well, Im way too close to 40 for comfort, married to the same woman twice (long story, I also have 2 anniversaries to forget) for a total of 11 years, 5 kids (2 Goldens, 1 Dalmatian, 1 Spaniel mix, 1 Maine Coon). Born in Utah, lived there till Dad passed away when I was 7. Moved back east and lived in the Philly suburbs for most of my growing formative years. Was a very rowdy, hell-raising truant in my teens, I saw school as a sort of prison that was to be avoided at any price, and avoid it I did. Ive had my share of scrapes with the man (never anything truly evil) and eventually reformed into a calmer more peaceful sort. I am a voracious reader of books on any subject, and what little I do know is mostly learned that way, have a degree from the school of hard knocks. I enjoy boating and jetskiing, snorkeling, camping, building model aircraft, drawing, painting and other artsy fartsy stuff, Big Band and Blues, re-hydrating and beer hunting, having fun with friends, and now this PC thing.

Ive been in more businesses than I can recall, from various sales jobs (remember Ive fallen and I cant get up? Yep, I was on their team) but found it hard to take direction from bosses I didnt respect (that damned independent streak) and so have mostly been self employed in various contracting businesses. I have always liked creating and building things with my own two hands, and I have learned many skills that will come in handy in any type of economy. I get a lot of satisfaction from turning a hovel into a castle. Got tired of freezing my ass off on the job, and headed south.

On a scale of 1-10 Ill hazard a WAG of 6.5, sliding down that slippery slope leading to who knows where. Gut says bad coming. I have always been a live for today, have fun party animal, but this has changed my tune, Im glad I lived it up while things were good.

Next stop-uncertainty. All aboard!

Does Old Git still have that job with the police department?

awe :)

There's a few people around that I wouldn't mess with, and OG is one of them.

-- !@#$%^&*() (####@####.###), June 26, 2001.

Yep her real name is Mae West.

-- Manny (No@dip.com), June 27, 2001.

Thanks, Manny. Why dontcha come up an' see me sometime?

-- Old Git (anon@spamproblems.com), June 27, 2001.

She never worked for the police. She does participate in what we out here call a "react network". Listening and warning about local stuff. Youda called her friend during that last what's its name hurricane if it had showed on your little block. Physical issues you are lucky not to bear restrict her world. Lives a different world that some here like to try to pick on but beneficial if you live in her neighborhood. Mono views get so tiresome. Git's cool. She's made her share of friends and enemies (fierce rasty dredger of your old sins she can be (a cpr reaction I think)) but in the end she's OK. Think what made me like her was her "dirty knees" approach to y2k and here refusal to abandon friends. It was something we shared. Difference to me is that she was smart enough to escape this different brand idiological spamming and I'm still here. Difference to you was that she dared to step on your freshly painted toenails. Well, she ain't here. I am. Unload, Losers.

-- Carlos (riffraff@cybertime.net), June 27, 2001.

Carlos, I'm sure IRL she's a terrific person. In fact, from your description, she sounds like the kind of person *I'd* hang with. But it's all relative. Some people are bastards in cyberspace, but then you talk to someone who's met them and they are the cream of the crop IRL.

As far as OG is concerned, if you were on the "right" side, you were a friend. If not, well, you've seen the result. And so many (too many) times, it was completely unprovoked. IMO, it was much more than a matter of stepping on "freshly painted toenails". It was a matter that some dared to disagree with her -- and subsequently felt the wrath in return. It was a matter of (from an "outsider's viewpoint") a person who got a taste of "power" and ran with it -- way too far.

(And sorry but the fact that she's now complaining about not having "admin keys" is a scream. Oh the irony.)

So while the ethical part of me despises what "Mr." Tobler is doing, OG gets no sympathy from me. She had a chance to "make nice" like so many of us did when OTFR started TB2KUS. She refused. Instead, she "trolled" (more irony) and blasted people from the safety of anonymity (again). In her case, a couple of apologies are probably in order (not to me; I couldn't care one way or the other - the past is the past). But I doubt anyone's holding their breath, ego being what it is on all sides.

Mark, you were all over Diane Squire's case because she has contact with the unformed minds of our nation's college students. What's your reason for messing with Git? Who will benefit from that? You can't protect the minds of cats, they never let you know what they're thinking in the first place.

-- helen (this_a_real_address@yahoo.com), June 27, 2001.

Old git trolled OTFR's forum? Wow, that IS hypocritical. Do you have the link to where it was found out she was a troll?

-- Hypocrites (R@us.yep), June 27, 2001.

No links; sorry, should have said it was "unsubstantiated but fairly well-educated 'rumor and innuendo'".

(IOW, someone told me and that "someone" is a very reliable source.)

Helen, as usual, ROTFLMAO.

Old Git started her own forum months ago. Maybe that's why we haven't seen her on the "Wild Wild West" or OTFR's forum.

"Who and what is OTFR, and where?"

Organization of Tasmanian Freedom Riders, a civil rights group who risk their necks riding from town to town in the Australian province of Tasmania, holding sit-in demonstrations on behalf of the Tasmanian Devil, an endangered marsupial who is never legally permitted to sit at Woolworths lunch counters. Something to do with leash laws.

The organization mainly consists of Mel Wootner, since Evelyn Noyes, his girlfriend of 20 years got fed up and left him. Sometimes Mel sits down at the counter with his pet ferret, Mr. Bitters. Mr. Bitters would have been a Tasmanian Devil, but Mel couldn't find any and had to settle for a ferret, instead.
