pond filter / grate

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have a vertical culvert near the edge of my pond. The top of it sits about eight inches lower than the dam. Some sticks and stuff have fallen in. The local fish folks won't give me a permit to stock the pond unless I put some sort of grate on it.

What's a solution?

Measure the outside diameter, take the measurements to a weld/fabrication shop and have them make you a grill, proabilly out of number 5 expanded metal (5/8th inch diamond weave)with a skirting to hold it in place. Think of a mayonase jar lid with lots of holes in the top!

My brother suggested getting some bendable screening that I clamp to the culvert...
