Test thread for Joy [Beware! Power is Going to Her Head!]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

Joy,

Here's the test thread I mentioned. I've put a little HTML code in so you can play around with changing or deleting it if you want.

Notice to all BTS members: Feel free to post something to this thread and Cindy's thread so they can view how these threads will look with responses from different people. But keep in mind that these test threads will be deleted by Joy and Cindy when they're comfortable with how the administrative tools work.

Living in the country has been called "the simple life." This is not true. It's much more complex than city life. City life is the one that's simple. You get a job and earn money and you go to a store and buy what you want and can afford. The decentralist life in the country, on the other hand, is something else again. When you design your own things and make plans about what you're going to produce and really live in a self-sufficient manner, you've got to learn...you've got to master all sorts of crafts and activities that people in the city know nothing about.

Anyone else hear this?

The GOP National Committee announced today that it is changing the Republican emblem from an elephant to a condom because it more clearly reflects the party's political stance: A condom stands up to inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives one a sense of security while screwing others.

Response to Test thread for Joy

Does David's joke mean that we have to make this an adults only forum?

Look out folks, I'm going in to change stuff around. But I'm leaving that joke, at least for now .. . . .

-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001

Don't worry, I wouldn't have posted it if the thread was staying!

-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001

Well, actually, I thought it was funny, David! Needs an "Adult" or "R" rating though . . .

My secret decoder ring is working well!

-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001

Dosen't anybody sleep? It's 11:30 here. You changed the color of my post! I protest! I don't like green!

-- Anonymous, June 25, 2001

OH Darn, I dropped my decoder ring and it rolled under the table.....gotta go find it....good thing there aren't guinea pigs running all around MY house.

Hey, where did my accusation go!? Tee hee. Guess it works, Joy. Got your email. Thx

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

Ok, I give...how do you make words be in color or italicized, etc. on this forum?

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

Anne:

Here's a VERY brief course in some basic HTML:

example of HTML for italics: <I>italicized words look like this</I>

finished result: italicized words look like this

example of HTML for bolded words: <B>bolded words look like this</B>

finished result: bolded words look like this

example of HTML for underlined words: <U>underlined words look like this</U>

finished result: underlined words look like this

example of HTML for words colored red: <font color=red>colored words look like this</font>

finished result: colored words look like this

example of HTML for words colored blue: <font color=blue>or this for another example</font>

finished result: or this for another example

example of HTML for hyperlinks: <a href="http://www.google.com">google</a>

finished result: google

Hey, don't delete the instructions!!!

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

OK, I'm going to try the hypertext link thing: Old Timer's Page

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

Cool, it worked! I'm going to print out these instructions and hang them next to my computer!

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

I'm going to try something really fancy now. This is one of my favorite websites to visit when I'm bored or feeling blue.

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

Very impressive, Sherri. You went from a simple plain text link to actually having an image to click on in your next link. You definitely get a gold star today! :-)

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

BTW, that's really a great web site - thanks for posting it.

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

You'd better keep the gold star, I cheated. The website had the code for the link at the bottom, all I did was a cut and paste.

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2001

Well, maybe you can give it a try with another image on the HTML thread, Sherri? You had me thinking there that you were one of the fastest learning students of HTML I'd ever come across. :-)

HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!

I LOVE the bear and horse. Thank you Jim for posting the new thread to train us!! You all are so patient. Thank you.
