natural gas???? eat LOTS of beans,, LOL. Ok had to say it. Maybe shes talking about a composting toilet that uses gas as a heating source, instead of electric??

Stan,
Oh!! You're funny! I will be sure to tell her! I really don't know what she is talking about...Maybe what you said is what she means!

Gas fired toilet whether LPG or natural gas doesnt compost waste, it incinerates it. Expensive to buy, expensive to operate. The only purpose I can imagine is if you live with meglo-maniac building/health inspector who refuses to even listen to reason on composting toilet and you cant put in a septic because of soil conditions. Put in one of these incinerating toilets first to allow you to build and later a composting toilet without asking for approval. Just use the composting toilet and dont tell anybody. If you have guests let them use the incinerating toilet. The incinerating toilet will meet all codes.

We stayed in a park at the base of Mt.Saint Helens in Washington state it was very interesting and they had incinerating toilets in the out houses due to the amount of people using them they could'nt use composting toilets. They looked somewhat like a pit toilet or honey wagon. The depository looked something like a castiron wood stove. Every couple of weeks they would close or seal them like a self cleaning oven and burn them off it took about six hours to heat up and cool down, there was ash in the bottom when it was finished. They are completely off the grid but have a web site via radio you can find them with a search engine type in Eco Park, they have e-mail and would direct you to the place they bought theirs, or I think they may have some used ones they would sell.

Now I have heard everything.....except....what in the blue blazes is a Honey Wagon? I'm kinda afraid of the answer!
Next, someone will be telling us we can heat our homes with heat from the burning toilets!

Cindy, the term honey wagon is used to include all types of moving solid waste disposal vehicles. Such as a septic pumper truck or a hand pushed cart that you find in some campgrounds.

I use to wonder when watching movies that were based on native american lifestyles of the past ,no matter how realistic hollywood tried to make it, I've nevr seen what the people used as a place for their solid human waste. On closer inspection I finally caught on.They used an advanced biologigical self cleaning septic system. They run on all fours and bark alot.

Thanks guys for the info....you don't want to know what she is doing now! She can't put in an outhouse, because she lives just down the street from us and has a lot of neighbors! The County won't allow it, at least that is what she says. She is our landlord and she built a cabin on the back acre of one of her rental lots (not ours!) and she says she doesn't think it will perc for a septic. She has priced out the electric ones and doesn't want to pay the price for them...I will tell her what I found out. Ronda, I will see if I can find the website you mentioned. Thanks again everyone!

Lehmans non-electric catalogue has them. WWW>Lehmans.com . And they cost $2650. That price does not include the vent!Propane or LP gas fired.
