U2 (non-footy babbling)

Beg, borrow, steal...whatever it takes...get a ticket!

Last night was the last show of their US tour, next stop Europe. They are on FIRE! Debuted a new song off the album, and have already said they'll probably do more on the Euro leg. When I wonder if they can ever blow me away (after what is now 40 full U2 concerts for me)..they manage to do it again.

And nothing to do with the European leg, but another very cool part of last night's show was the caliber of VIPs....Bill and Chelsea Clinton(surrounded by Secret Service of course), and Kofi Annan.

I'll babble off here. Got home at 5am, have had 4hrs sleep and don't know my own name right now. But I am EL-E-VA-TED! Wooo-hoo! :-D

Sorry Ciara but Boner is a pretentious tosser and they've done nothing for me since their first three albums. Apart from that, I love 'em.

Didn't realise Boner was Clinton's nickname - fairly appropriate actually! ;-{)

ROTFL, Clarky! Actually my friend did get a wink from Clinton as she passed by. Nothing more as the Secret Service had the guy surrounded. ;-)

Actually, SMB, Bono is very sincere in his causes and amazingly has gotten alot of US politicians to pay attention. But this tour, while amazing, has also shown that the band(and their management) have lost all touch with the reality of their fan base. From ticket prices to seating arrangements to some scattered incidents where fans have been treated like cattle. They may not want to admit it, but they are now in the same stratosphere as bands like the Rolling Stones. Not unexpected considering their success. They just need to accept it and quit pretending to be anything other than a mega-band.

Still a freakin amazing show! :-)

You're the first U2 fan I've ever known to concede anything about them! I'm glad you enjoyed the show, even if I don't rate them.

LOL! There's alot of us around, generally the more long-term and slightly less obsessed fans. There's also plenty more who think we're the spawn of Satan for doing anything less than worshipping the ground the band walk on.

I saw the POP concert in Dublin a few years ago and thought it was shite....

They've had their dodgy patches, like most bands, but seem to be coming good again, and for the length of time they've been around that's no small task. Bono might be a bit of a twat (sorry Ciara ;-)), but he does put himself behind a song. Can't accuse him of just going through the motions...

Glad you enjoyed it Ciara. It's been a good summer for gigs.

Still chuckle about that tribute band "The Joshua Trio" whose singer used to be led into concerts on the back of a donkey reciting lyrics from "The Unforgettable Fire". He said that Bono had appreciated the reminder of his mortality and sent him a signed photogarph which he had treasured. For minutes.

I saw U2 at Gateshead stadium when they were supporting the police, V. good then, now? not so much. Too commercial, still ciara glad you had a good time.

Very bummed I never got to see the Joshua Trio live. I'd always manage to be in Dublin just before or just after they'd scheduled shows. I did get all their singles, though. Great stuff! :-)
