Birthday Girl

OK, we're dying again.

This site seems to have brief spurts of activity, it needs more than that. As I commented in my last posting, I have been doing less people shooting than previously, for a variety of reasons.

I shot this one recently. I haven't spent much time on it - it's a straightforward scan of the negative and it needs some work.

In New Orleans, a tradition on the birthday is to wear a pin and people that want to wish you well pin money on with it. This girl's name is Tasha and it was her 27th birthday earlier this week. I happened to see the money on her before she disappeared into a restaurant and asked someone what it was about, which is when I learned about the tradition. I looked in and she came out to invite me in, she was the manager. Instead, I asked if I could take her photo.

Ha, her expression looks as though she's trying to "egg on" the forum participants here to post more people photography and keep the forum alive! Interesting story, Jeff. I like the texture of the wall, particularly a river of sorts leading from her head and off to the right. Look at the baby dimples on the top of her hand! Was this taken at night, and the light on her is from a street light or something?
