Stella Got Her Groove Back

But will Mook get his his back? Fans of Nanaba Man who were shattered at the dismal results from the US Classic Champs are keeping their fingers crossed that the depressing trend will be reversed at the soon-to-be-underway PNWOF. For now, the Yellow Sheath has been packed away until happier days are back again.

I don't know if Mook will get his groove back, but here is my bold prediction: Mook will get his jam back. Even as I write, a specially dispatched courier is hurtling northwestward to deliver into Mook's hand the precious strawberry jam he forgot at the Laramie Training Camp. Keep your fingers crossed, because without his magic jam, there's no hope for any groovyness.

Dan will also be at part of PNWOF. He should be flying from KC to Portland within a few hours. Dan and I ran last night (a slow loop around Wyandotte Lake). He told me he is running the red course. It'll be interesting to see how Dan does at PNWOF.

Ah, Fritz won't be at PNWOF, but had earlier planned to be. Unfortunately, life took and interesting turn for him and instead of figuring out his route from one control to the next, he more recently has been preoccupied with figuring out his route through life! Things are more settled now and training resumes. Looking forward to events this fall, including the relay. (With brother in LA, it's a good bet I'll be there.)

Now the challenge is how to do technical training in the summer!

I thought I would check the PNWOF Results Page. Just in case, you know, they were trying for the ever so elusive God Standard. Tio- Mila couldn't do it. Jukola~^\ couldn't do it. PNWOF - probably wisely - isn't even trying. But that's ok! They still have time to rally and achieve the also legendary (for different reasons?) Michigan Standard.

I've got the first (sketchy) info about the weekend's races. Apparently, Snorkel won M35, but didn't have the fastest two day total time on Red. Mook seems to have had a bad first day (maybe an injured ankle?). Mook reportedly rallied on the second day.

I can tell you there was no indication of any Jam at the meet.

The "fog of war" is in full effect now, with no official race results yet published and only scanty rumors shining the occasional eerie beam through the veils of confusion. If Mook didn't get his jam back in time, that would easily explain the possibility of an unsatisfactory Day 1 result, if indeed that's what occured.

It's good to see that some things don't change though. Snorkel continues to hold to his pattern of succinct yet comprehensive, brilliantly incisive, one sentence meet reports.

Results!

Looks like Mook either just strolled around the first day or boomed a lot. He was 20 minutes behind on day 1.

Day 2 is more like what we expect. Mook smoked the field on the blue course, winning by a couple of minutes.

Results from the other days "will be available later."

The other days' results are available. Mook had variable results, down one day, up the next. He seems to do better on day two; is he getting used to different terrain/maps?

BTW, why was Dan Meenehan listed as "SLOC" ?????????
