De B divvent forget to set the alarm clock! Nowt on tonight, the morra looking for a new apartment while trying to get girlfriend into a restaurant where a bunch of her friends are having a surprise birthday party for her (that's two so far with another one next weekend) Sunday recover slowly from said party and try to explain away potentially poor behaviour. Cubs game Sunday sitting in the "What do you mean I can only get two beers at a time" bleachers.

Alarm clock for the Lions match or alarm clock for the paintballing.

If paintballing where do you situate the alarm clock to unsettle the enemy? I never went to cadets!

Great North Open at Slaley Hall. Went yesterday and wasn't going to bother going back, but on the way out two guys gave me their complimentary passes for the whole event as they weren't coming back - they'd received them from a friend who is a player (David Carter I think).

Followed Lee Westwood around yesterday in very cool conditions (64 deg here: 55 deg up at Slaley!!) - he finished +9, seemed totally disinterested and was pretty pathetic. 45 for the back nine was about my standard. As the only real star in the tournmament his attitude was pretty disappointing.

Slaley is a great course for a pro tournament, and I hope they are successful with their bid for the '09 Ryder Cup. However, somehow I suspect they won't be.

Some wag on Sky Sports a few minutes ago suggested it would be a great choice as the Americans would never be able to find it!

LOL you've got to admit that the prospect of a golf tourney at slaley in late sept. is well .. not going to happen. 54 degrees on midsummers day, lucky to be above freezing with the wind chill in sept. i can just imagine the mountain rescue getting involved.

that's really the problem with the NE of england, too cold for any sane person to habitate. pity really

Don't exaggerate gb, it was 55 deg!
In any event the main competition to Slaley for '09 is apparently from Scotland (Gleneagles, Loch Lomond, and Turnberry) and Wales (not sure which courses - do they have any in Wales?) - so the weather shouldn't be all that dissimilar. It could be lousy at any of them. However, I have to say I was really surprised yesterday at how much colder it was up at Slaley than in Toon, or even 5 miles away in Corbridge come to that.
